This is a poll question without a poll.

I wanna know when 92 Ty's switched grille letters from black to red.

If you KNOW that your grille letters are legit, and you are in the 1600-1800 ? range prolly, post up your truck # and letters color.

We will be doing highest black to lowest red.

Go!

my guess is, lowest red and highest black are going to cross paths hundreds of trucks apart

the letter was published in oct 91, wifes ty has a march build date and its 1353, it had black letters so its gonna be hard to narrow down a date of the change. Black letters were offered through parts. The reaason for the change was Brand Identity

1672- red and belived to be stock (was wore the phuk out and all original according to owner)
1613-red, but was in front end coll and had paint work, so not 100% sure, but they didnt do the job well, so it was possibly reused original.

Dale's response to the question of "why" the letters were changed. See post 85 of the "epic" thread (historical forum):

1a. The GMC letters were changed colors around mid-year of production for no other reason than GM Design Staff said so. When the General called and told us to "jump", we typically responded "how high?" without further ado
