injector swap

My truck FINALLY has a motor in it now, i just gotta put some of the upper stuff on it. But im thinking maybe i should keep the stock injectors/chip for a while until its all dialed in/running right. Does that make sense? Then i can put my 50# injectors/chip in. How hard is it to put injectors in when the motor is all together. My truck has a comp cam, eagle rods, srp pistons, vortec heads, etc...... Im gonna run the stock turbo for a while until everything is working good. Give me some ideas as to what i should do PLEASE.

It's not too bad, you have to remove the upper intake though. After this you can remove all the injectors at once together with the fuel rail. Maybe it could be done without removing the upper intake, but I'd not try this.

It's been awhile since I did this, but as I recall I removed the TB, the AFPR, but never removed the upper intake. Not to bad an experience.

the 412 is a lot bigger than stock esp if you use 1.6 rockers. you will need a lot more fuel than a stock chip is designed to give you.

I've done injector swaps on three trucks and never took off the intake.....Those metal retainers are a bitch though, especially when one slips out of your hands while trying to do the #5 injector.

Injector Swap - Cam Size

Injector Swap - Cam Size

Brad, John & Guys,

I was thinking of using the CC 412 cam also w 1.6 Crane Golds. Is this that much bigger than stock ? I want to be able to pass Smog.

ATR offers a SyTy cam w a 0.43" Lift, which doesn't seem to be all that much of an upgrade. The 412 w a 0.50" lift and reasonable duration looked to be a streetable cam.

Looking at the specs, I noticed one thing different. The GN ATR Hydraulic Roller that I have is a 212/206 (I/E) duration cam, whereas the 412 CC Cam is 206/212. The GN one (I think it is Crane) has more duration on the Intake, whereas, the 412 (Comp Cams) has more duration on the exhaust side. Not sure what that means ?

Isnt there a dif between ty and sy fuel rails? I seem to remember someone mentioning that the ty's could come off w/o removing the intake, but the sys couldnt.

not sure, wondering this myself.

the 412 is an awesom ecam. totally streetable. Ive built ~10 motors with this cam now and all have been very successful. the sy and ty fuel rails are different. the feed line for the rail is further forward on the sy than it is on the ty.
