Is this a real 94 prototype?

Re: Is this a real 94 prototype?

ummm, can't say for sure that it is or isn't but I guess it is more likely a clone w/o the cladding orjust some one trying to get a leg up on the rest of the peopel selling their SyTy.

That's a mighty expensive Jimmy! That's even expensive for a Ty!

thats not even a 94 body 94s have a round front.
'94 s-series pickups were second generation (round body trucks). '94 Blazers and Jimmy's stayed square-bodied for the transition year. The SUV's changed over in '95.

The guy with the prototype in CA lives about 30 minutes from me. I've seen that Jimmy in person. Very cool piece of history.

Why would there be a 1994 prototype? That makes as much sense as having a 1993 prototype...if nothing changed on the body style, and the run was obviously going to end, what was the need for a proto? Was GM / PAS going to add some new stuff?

Nto the same truck, but you see where it says "1994". I forget the exact purpose for this truck, but I believe it had something to do with emissions.

Someone needs to e-mail him and tell him if he really thinks its a prototype then he needs more damn pictures.

I hate people like this, put a car up for sale and then only give one shitty ass picture to go with it. Like you know everything about the truck already.

It could be the one was around many years ago. The owner took the cladding off because he was afraid it would get stolen. I havent seen that one in years but it was white.:dunno:

Looks like he changed the front and rear bumpers as well and filled in all the grommet areas that the cladding mounted to. My guess is the current owner bought it under the pretense it was a promo truck solely based on what he was told and still thinks that is the case.

unless you have documentation you can't trust some jerka$$ who says that you're getting something rare. merk's post showing some sort of evidence is the first step.

I live 30 minutes from the Ty. If anyone is serious about it and wants me to check it out, let me know.

Re: Is this a real 94 prototype?

Well i just called the gu and talked to him, he says its a real Ty, has full Ty interior and has the PAS sticker on the driver side door jam, but as far as having documentation to prove it he dies not have.

He also said that his used to have the white fender flairs but they were all chiped up and he replaced them with the black ones which he liked better.

I asked for the VIN so that i could do a Carfax check, and he said he wouldnt give it out over the phone, but is going to take some more pics if it and email them to me.

If it truely is one of the prototype trucks it might be worth the money, he said he can move on the price alittle, so well see what heppens.

Re: Is this a real 94 prototype?

If the vin doesnt come back with anything on it saying its a 94 proto, and he doesnt have any build sheets on it or any other info like that, I'd offer $6500. And I'd tell him, unless he can prove what he has then its not worth the price of a real syty. (I know I'll probably get hell for saying that..)
