jhacking first real pass

Re: jhacking first real pass

Are you saying the truck is already set up this way? I can't imagine it is considering the amount of time needed to build boost off the line going off of the video.

Thought you ment that,it has it..that truck has no issues like that

I thought he was just running rwd, but still had the diff and t-case in the truck.

Fast spool setup consist of a wastegate without a spring (or very weak spring) mounted on an intake pipe or manifold allowing the turbo to spool freely since it is wide open and then you have a CO2 or equivalent pressure source that shuts the wastegate when you are ready to leave the line.

There are many different flavors and setups for doing this, but the above is a basic example.

Concerns of doing this consist of over spinning the turbo and the shock load placed on the turbo when you close the wastegate, but regardless it does work quite well.

That Video was when the setup was new. It spools plenty fast enough now less than 3 sec.
when you have a good boost controller (AMS1000) you dont need such silly things like the wastegate on the charge pipe.

I am pretty sure he went RWD if you go back and look at the pic of the burn out on page 5.

I guess noeone heard of a selective front diff. You can disengage do a burnout since the rear tire is 60% of your traction and then reengage before you take off. Less stress on Tranny, transfer case, and driveshafts.

Most SY/TY guys don't hangout on the 4x4 forums or shops. These guys have alot of neat things they have come up with over the years.

My 2 cents.

Maybe I am misreading his post, but I think Jamie is saying that he is running rwd for the x275 drag radial racing series. He has skinnies tires on the front in the picture of the burn out..

Re: jhacking first real pass

So will the record fall if he has the same setup as I have and can turn the fronts off and do a burn out and then turn them back on for the pass?

as long as you run the pass in AWD i don't see why anyone would gripe about switching to rwd for a burnout. a few syty's have this setup in it.

Silly yes, but functional for those that cannot afford something better. ;) The AMS1000 is a great unit and should prove to be extremely consistent. A tuner here locally is using one on his turbo busa and the boost control per gear is simply amazing.

Looking forward to more videos and faster times!

I know what you are saying there are a few guys here that to have a 4X4 trans case. But it doen't look that way on Hackings trucks(Jamie will have to elaborate on his "New" set up he is running). Becasue he said he is running the 275 class and you can tell in the pic that he is running skinnies up front and there is no way in hell you would get traction with those tires up front if they have power going to them. Plus pulling 1.2 60's with awd and or a 4x4 case would be tough to get the 60' down that low.

I know waller switched to a switchable front diff years back and did a write up on here. I am not New to this game oh and BTW my DD is a 2500 4x4 Duramax that i do a little drag racing and pulling with so i do know little about 4wheel drive cases and what people are using for drag racing and so forth.

Re: jhacking first real pass

Holly Shit, is this over some stupid AWD record? I am NOT awd anymore. I dont care about a record so dont put me on the list. I bought this truck to have fun, and over the years I have had a blast. Back 15-18 years ago when I bought the truck, there where no such thing as a Drag Radial tire class, Guess what now there is , and thats where I went with the truck. As all of you know I'm a racer at heart, and I like to race, not just put up #'s to say I'm the fastest. I dont give a shit about that. All I care is that I'm competivive in the X275 class I'm running. The guys with the seires think its awsome i'm in there with my V6 and they are working with me with the rules so I can be competative.

Hope this resolves that I am not after any records. I do know what my junk runs, and its FAST
