killed a mint Syclone

Pulled along side a beautiful Syclone the other day. We were both doing about 45 mph. I looked over and gave him the thumbs up and we were off. I think I put about five or so car lengths on him by the time we hit 90 mph.......

Needless to say, He'll be getting some stuff done to that truck real soon. He doesn't like getting beat by a daily driven VW GTI........

His (my buddy's) truck is bone stock. So, it wasn't exactly fair. I just wanted to give some of you guys a hard time and see how many times I would get flamed on....

I've driven his truck a few times and the 0-50 mph is absolutley insane. I was really impressed by how hard it shifted from 1st to 2nd too.

Anyone here in Orlando? My friend wants to know when & where you guys meet up.

With your trap speed it doesn't surprise me. A stock sy is usually 10mph slower and it probably couple of ticks slower if driven to its potential in the 1/4 mile. I bet the result would be the exactly opposite if you raced from 0-60....5 cars length behind :D

I started reading thinking... wtf, I didnt race a vw... maybe he thought I was... HAHA

Yea, theres a few of us. Sometimes we head out to the corner - Orange and 50 on saturdays. Sometimes were out at university and alifiaya on wednesdays.

I'd be happy to go take a look at his truck, were stupid about em so any new ones are fun to see.

He'd like that.

We took his truck out to Bithlo a few weeks ago and the best we could get out of it was a 14.1 @ 94 mph 2.1 60'

There were a couple guys asking him about his truck and they called someone (maybe you) to tell about it.

His truck had the original tires on it when he bought a couple months ago. 29k miles ....not to bad for $15k

yeah, my mph in the 1/4 is pretty sweet. :)

Thats actually pretty slow times for a syclone. Somethings not right. An untuned ty will run a low 14, so a decent sy should be planted fair into the 13's.

Yea, I got a call from christian asking me who was out at the track running 14's. We discussed it for a bit.. agreed he needed to get the truck running right :D

my truck when 12.90's on the stock turbo/injectors/intake. Im sure we can get that truck at least back to 13.5's where it should be and stop embarrasing the rest of us :D (not that I didnt have a couple of 14 second slips my first couple of trips to the track).

Looks like he needs to launch it better, and his MPH is a little low for that time.. should be 96ish.

So we can send him to launch school and do a proper once-over / tune-up

About launching.....He drove the truck twice and I drove it twice. I did the best I could to spool the turbo up but it would cause the truck to creep forward if I gave it too much. How the hell are you able to spool your truck up without it over powering the brakes?

The other link to the race with the GTI......Not real sure who that was, but it wasn't me. Before I upgraded my turbo, I raced two kids in a Syclone while driving down Mitchell Hammock. We were pretty much dead even up to about 110. I was running a 14.2 @98.9 mph back then. That was on the stock turbo with chip and exhaust.

When I get my car out of the shop, we'll head up to Fusian (Alafaya and University) on Wednesday night. I haven't been in a few weeks and I need to stop back by.

Let me know when you guys are going to head back out to Bithlo, We'll tag along.

HAHAHAH. We should look familiar then 8) .

Adam just got his external wastegate. After setting the manual valve the wrong way up to 20+psi (ic pipes popped off as a deadly warning) we went the opposite direction.... down to base spring boost.

We were driving around turning it up slowly as we ran into a golf.
Needless to say when we came up on you it wasnt running as fast as stock, and we kinda laughed it off, quickly stopped and kept turning it up. (adjuster is under the hood ya know).

Haha, knew that would come back sometime.

But I do remember mentioning it was a pretty quick car. :D

before launch put it into neurtal and rev the motor a few times while holding down the brakes....you should feel the pedal sink toward the floor a bit building up brake pressure...then build boost....it makes ALL THE DIFFERENCE in the world in what it can hold!

LMAO...that was you guys.....What a small world, huh.

Yeah, I was lined up next to Mustang GT and you were right on my ass at the stop light. I remember thinking, "these two kids in the S-10 behind me were about to get spanked"
When The light went green, the mustang and I took off and I put a couple cars on him then realized I had these S-10 headlights on my ass. I was like, "Holy Shit" That thing must have a V-8 in it. Then I heard the turbo spool up and knew it was a Syclone.

How funny is that. I was so proud of myself for beating a Syclone, that I went home and posted the kill on 20vturbo.

I think that was the night my store got broken into. That's where I was going when I ran into you two.

Thanks for the launch help. I'll have wayne try the neutral thing next time.

Scott

BTW, I appreciate you guys being cool about me coming to your board to post a kill. The Ricer guys aren't quite mature enough for this kind of stuff.

Sure thing.

I will be doing another upgrade to the GTI as soon as APR releases it. It should add about another 30-50hp. I just wish I had the traction you guys have. I've yet to see an EVO, STI or Audi TT (AWD) break anything better than a 1.8 60'...so you guys getting below 1.7 are like gods!
My best ever on sticky street tires is a 2.23 or 2.28 60'....pretty hated having all this power and no way to deliver it to the ground.....But, once I get into third gear, I start checking out.......

Thanks for the compliments too.

LOL......I'll race ya again......can we go from a roll :D

So what kind of times are you running now that you've got the issues worked out?

And, yes, I'll get wayne to hook up with you guys real soon. We both have been super busy lately with our businesses and related stuff, but he hates the fact that I can beat him, so I know he wants to hook his Sy up. He did take it to that local guy that's supposed to be a great Sy/Ty mech. They tried chipping his truck, but couldn't keep it from detonating, so no chip at this point. I guess he could run 100 octane to cure it. Anyways, he'll dump some money into it as soon as we can get everything settled down, business wise.

Interesting, I'd like to know who that was.
