I have 2 sets of 4.3 rods. One set has a rectangle with rounded corners on the caps and the other set has a rectangle with a sharp square edges on the cap. I have researched this on the archives and found some pics that methusela posted sometime back. My rods have the same square edged rectangle on the caps as in these pics. I don't know if they are worth a crap or not. If they are somehow the good rods I will use them but will buy Eagles if they suck. Is there any other way to identify the L-35's other than the caps??

Methuselah's pictures were L35 rods.

I have a bunch of other pictures of them if you are interested.

I dont remember posting pics of the L35 rods, I bet it was leroy (Jim Sloan) that posted the pics when I asked about them earlier. I was, however, recently presented with the opportunity to take my own pics of the two, side by side. The L35 is on the right in the pics below, and the stock rod is on the left.

The orientation of the little end (wrist pin) castings are perpindicular:

The castings on the big end (crank journal) are perpindicular as well:

Thanks for the info. Mine must be somewhere in the middle. These have the same square casting on the crank journal which doesn't make sense because my engine is out of a 89 S10 Cameo. Maybe something special for the Cameo engine? I sure don't know. I am tempted to use these as they do appear a little beefier that my other set which are the crappy ones just like the other rods in the pic. Thanks again.

If you doing a turbo 4.3 and already rebuilding your motor, buying atleast a set of L35 Rods. The stock rods commonly break, this is the place to save a few dollars. It isn't worth the risk of throwing a rod and ruining the block.
