Larger Front Disc Upgrade

i know keith (keith455) has the bear setup on his sy with stock front rims, not sure if he's got 12" or 13" rims

The 12" Baers fit the stock wheels, the 13", which I switched to, need 17" wheels.

the stock reloctor ring is mated to the half shaft on the outboard side. not the rotor.

Just let everyone know I just finished installing 12inch front brakes from an 1998 up LS1. Thanks to Scott and everyone elso for the suggestions and info. If anyne is interested I got some pictures but need someone to host them. By the way they fit behing stock wheels. Fern Sy#477

Made a braket out of 1/2 steel plate. I picked up front dual piston calipers with caliper brakets and rotors for $150USD from this person
Lynn Hopkins, hoppy28@bellsouth.net, she sells on ebay and has a ton of LS1 stuff. I bought my LS1 rear disc off her to for the same price. Shes great to do bussiness with.

Im busy tonight but I will make a little write up on the process, it wasnt to hard to do. If you have a angle grinder, steel porting bit, and about a day you can do it. Cost was under $200USD, pretty good I think. Talk to you guys later. FErn Sy#477

eh, maybe i'll give it a try (i suck at fabrication). do you have any measurements or a template for the holes or did you just eyeball it?
also, what kind of hoses are those?

How about a GP on mounting brackets??? Sounds like a few people would be interested in buying them if you wanted to make them.

I wouldnt mind making making them, how many people are actually interested. Those hoses are stock hoses. But what I did was switch the left to right and visa versa. It allows the lines to fit on the caliper as it shows in the picture. Im not sure if it will be long enogh though. Right now I have the jack stand under the control arm and from lock to lock there is enough slack in the hose. But, I dont know if it will be sufficient when the control arms are left to hang?? Have to see.

Okay Guys,
Sorry for the delayed reply but I wanted to cross this by my lawyer and get a release form written up that would need to be signed by every buyer. I decided I will make make the brackets but will not deal with cutting the stock spindles to bolt the brackets on, to much liability involved. Basically once the brackets are built all that has to be done is cut the old caliper tabs off the factory spindle completely, and as long as you can line up the bolts from my bracket to the spindle, then everything will work great. The spindle can be cut with either a chop saw(what I used), or a sawsall. All the alignment of the caliper is done through the four hole on my bracket. All the brackets I will build will be test fitted on my own Syclone before I ship them out. It takes about 2-3 hours to build a pair so I think $100USD is a fair price for the bracket. That lady I gave the email address for should sell you calipers, caliper brackets, and rotor from an LS1 for $150USD. A couple of people have asked for a template of the bracket and I dont mind showing one, but, how do I make it accessable to everyone??? If people are still interested, let me know. Also You might want to move this to GP section. Fern

after some searching for parts i found this to be true, the 12" rotors from F-bodies are the same as '97+ deville, seville, eldorado, park ave., le sabre, riviera, aurora, intrigue and '00+ impala and monte carlo.
after some digging on car-part.com i found out that several wrecking yards have them for $10 each. Eagle Auto in Greensboro, MD (800-638-4991) had the cheapest shipping of $10 a pair. others had lower mileage rotors for the same price but $30 shipping, like Economy Auto in Jonesboro, AR (800-543-5575).

i didn't think to buy some of the stock calipers from one of these cars, but i found a place in TX that had some F-body pieces for cheap, i won't name them until i receive mine and see if they're worth the risk, but i will mention that i found them on car-part.com also.

so far i've only got $83 invested in my swap including shipping, the calipers and rotors will be her sometime next week.
