Re: Local HELP PLEASE

Before the 50# chip and injectors, I had an stg chip for stock injectors. It ran good, the a/f ratio was normal until the boost came in (only 12lbs) then it would gradually get leaner. So we thought that the stock injectors werent supplying enough fuel, so I changed to the 50# chip and injectors. When I bought the truck the owner gave me these injectors and chip.

Re: Local HELP PLEASE

If you're leaning out under boost I would suspect fuel pump. Do you have a 255 walbro and AFPR in the truck? If not the stock fuel pump or a weak fuel pump will not pump enough fuel supply for the 50# injectors in boost.

It has a 255 walbro, under boost the fuel pressure goes to about 50lbs.

50lbs is not enough... what is your base fuel pressure set at (vac line off, truck running?) With my 50#ers I had my base set at 50psi and at 15psi of boost I would have 65lbs of fuel pressure. You should have 1 lb of FP increase for every 1lb of boost over your base FP setting....

Re: Local HELP PLEASE

at idle its at 20lbs and when the truck started to move the dyno(not into boost yet) it got so rich the a/f meter couldnt read it, this is at 50lbs of fuel pressure. does it make a difference if a vac line is off when you sent the fuel pressure?

20lbs at idle is also too low. It should be around 30-35lbs at idle. The vac line doesn't have to be off in order to adjust fuel pressure but in order to set the "base" fuel pressure the truck should be running with the vacuum line to the AFPR off and plugged. Set it to about 45psi. (to start) and then reconnect the vac line. With the truck Idleing it should be about 32psi and with 15psi of boost you should be around 60lbs with that 45lb "base" setting.

Re: Local HELP PLEASE

I have stock chip piggy backing the 50# chip, I have a pitpull chip for 37#. Would it make a difference if I use that instead of the stock chip or the piggy back?

shouldn't matter which chip you're using as a piggyback. The functions that are being used still will be the same. Are you sure you have it piggy backed the correct way? It should be piggybacked in the same position it came out of the ECM.

Re: Local HELP PLEASE

When I looked at the chip, the stock chip was flipped( when you look at the picture above, the brown part of the stock chip was on the right). Sorry for asking such a stupid question, but would that make a difference?

Re: Local HELP PLEASE

And do what I said about fuel pressure.. Set it to 45 to start and see where you're at. You may need to go to 50lbs. Trust me your FP is too low as it is now. The chip being in backwards is what's causing your fueling issues.

No problem! Glad I could help... After your ride let us know how you made out. I would be willing to bet you'll be close to where you need to be...

Re: Local HELP PLEASE

The truck started, and once I got the fuel pressure with the vac line off to about 35 and it was running really really rough. So wanted to make 100% sure the the stock chip was right and it is.
