I believe you.. Pics can be very deceiving. Too bad you didn't take some pics of all of the problems while you were looking at it.

Its frustrating how this guy can say that he has a dealership and how easy it is for him to detail/clean things then you get there and its a POS.

By looking at those pic's you can see how I was sucked in....I fell for it hook line and sinker I am just so happy I didn't buy it.... I was looking to spend 10-12K for a sy-ty and this was priced right there!

heres the add from Craigslist

Rare Fast 1991 GMC SYCLONE. $9700
Black on Black Perfect Condition, no rust, inside looks fresh out of the wrapper.
This truck has never been raced or abused. The only reason I am getting rid of it is because I am getting married and she is making me out of principle. I'm not worried so much how much I get but you must take care of it.

guess I don't have to host them, I looked at the pics, and the truck doesn't look all that bad. I've seen worse. But the details are what really makes the difference. There's trucks out there, just be patient and you'l find one.

"Inside looks fresh out of the wrapper" LOL, gauge problems.. the instrument needles are WHITE, that's 100K+ of sun fading. Not to mention the white seats. Faded cladding ("The paint is a 10" WTF??)

The more I read this thread the harder I laughed. "looked like he had been hauling scrap steel for years with it" :rotf:

The GMC Truck decal was aftermarket, probably got rear ended and had to replace the tail gate.

Re: Looked at my first syclone wow what a P.O.S.

Truck obviously has some issues.

1) no cladding on the driver side
2) wrong rear window
3) door panels look horrid
4) re-pop decals
5) major interior sunfade
6) no tonneau cover

The list goes on and on....

My vote is between 7K and 8K

Re: Looked at my first syclone wow what a P.O.S.

Its rough to be in the market for a Sy or Ty and find a nice one. I been lucky on what I got right now. My Sonoma GT daily driver is a CA truck and the cluster is so faded. Seats and console are rip free and good. Dash is ok. Body obviously rust free. Its a complete truck and I enjoy using it daily. When I uncover my original 3500 mile Syclone, or the 68,000 mile one owner Typhoon and look inside. Its like being at a dealer in 91-93. Even the other all stock Syclone I have, interior is 98% perfect. Body is good, CA truck. 74,000 miles. Its all stock save for a hard tonneou. My built engine Syclone is an overall good condition truck. Not worried about it being all original.
Then the last one was a little rough, didn't care. Wanted it as it was made on the same day as my original. Minor modded now but all stock when I got it. Needed TLC. Would be hard to get a lot for it as it does have hidden rust from when it lived back east for two years of its single owner life. But the interior is about 95% perfect and wear free. Everything works. Except the oil pressure gauge.
I love these trucks but it was not easy or a simple process to find any of them. Takes time to find something you want to keep.

Going back to your first post, you seem to insinuate that you have been looking for a Syclone as you lurked here, and that after seeing this POS you were going to have to "look elsewhere." Maybe I am reading too much into your post but is the fact you smoked 200 bucks in gas, looking at a turd not for sale by a board member, somehow this board's fault?

Re: Looked at my first syclone wow what a P.O.S.

From the pics it look GREAT to me alot better than my typhoon!!! but i did not pay top dollar either i only payed $7000.00.

I think you're reading too much into the post. I didn't get that feeling at all. I think what he was saying is that after searching here, craigslist, etc.... He found one he thought would be a contender but turned out not to be. :2cents:

Sorry to hear about your time and gas money wasted. I too have been searching for a sy for a good while now. I finally bought one. I bought mine from the BacDoc. I payed 10 for my truck with 100k on it. but man she is purdy. here is a pic of us rolling down the highway going to its first outing with it's other turbo brothers

Daron you got it all wrong! I wish I would have had someone who was into Sy-Ty's local go look at it... I was turned on to #1985 by my nephew who saw it surfing on craigslist....the guy was putting the pressure of time and more guys interested in it I should of smelled a bad deal..(my fault)..next time I am going to know what questions to ask over the phone and I will ask for more pictures that I want to see.....

Re: Looked at my first syclone wow what a P.O.S.

look for words like, collector, show truck, picky owner. things that indicate the guy treats his vehicle better than his wife, or has other awesome stuff. is it unlawful to use a seat cover. daily driver or a pic of the underside says it all.
lm looking as well . for me its all about the wording.
thx dave
