Re: Looking for tips

zylene does help. just be carfull when you put it in because it will eat paint. I mixed a 3 gallons with a tank and my Knock went from 8* down to 2-3*. Alky would be better because of the zylene cost.

No he won't . Detonating one of these motors is just ASKING to put connecting rod(s) through the oil pan...

Come on you really didn't think I was serious did you :p ? I thought the smilies would depict enough sarcasm?

This post cracks me up:

I know a bpu supra 6 speed with a good driver will run in the 7s all day. I know Scotts rx7 is limited to a 8.20 pass with only have an exhaust. It will depend on who can drive better between the supra and 7 owner, the syclone doesnt stand a chance but it is still a cool ass little truck.

This will be the final results:

1. Rx7
2. Supra
3. Syclone

Supra will trap the highest.

I think Jeremy was running in the high 7's stock in the 1/8th around here.

I'm betting the order goes somewhere in the Syclone, RX7, Supra range myself. Depending on how well the two cars hook. Having ridden in an example of all 3, thats my best guess. If it was 1/4 you might have a different outcome.

Well, we are all 30 somethings, and i do have a clue. I have been building RX7s for about 10 yrs now. The car that im running right now is a car i put together last week. And it runs well with only a downpipe, midpipe, and cat-back.I was at the track saturday, and i was running 8.40s at 84 mph, and my 60' time was 1.78. This is most definitely not the fastest RX7 ive ever built. I put this thing together to sell. My personal car on the other hand(which i am currently building) Is going to have a half bridge port engine with 3mm seals, and a Greddy T78 turbo, with all supporting mods. I am being conservative when i say that it should put down 450rwhp.
And you do know that some BPU supras run in the high 7s right?
This by no means is a serious race. Were just doing it to have a good time.

All the cars sound like they are pretty even. High 7's low 8's depending on driver/conditions/etc......

I think in the end the nod still goes to the Syclone. It's the least finicky when it comes to driving. Get the launch right, and the rest is point and shoot :D

All in all it's good to see some friendly rivalry!

Re: Looking for tips

Its funny also how some of the people on that site think the Sy is absolutly no match "it wont stand a chance" and "it wont hit low 8's". Maybe if they spent a little time and did a little reseach in our timeslip page they wont realize how ignorant they sound. I mean you scroll down the page of stockish truck and it's nothing but consistancy. I bet he can push that truck to a low 8 pass and all that it will depend on is how much boost he wants to leave with and what quick tips we gave him he is able to get done. Then all he has to worry about is if the other 2 screw up the launch or not, you got to love Turbocharged, Automatic's, with All Wheel Drive!!

Re: Looking for tips

both the 7 and supra are manual tranny cars. I definitely have the advantage, only because i have lots of drag racing experience. I most definitely think Jason could be in the low 8s if he can "control his ride". But we will see! I have driven Jasons SY for several days this month, and put it through its paces. The difference between the Sy and the 7 is, when you get on the cyclone, you know that its not gonna blow up, but with the 7, you always run the risk of grenading your engine.

Call it a "Cylone" again and I will piss in your gas tank before the race.

Trust me Jason can just as easily gernade his motor, its more common than you would think :squint:

Sorry 93FD, i wasnt pointing that comment at you or the supra owner, but some of the other comments made by people on that other board were obviously uneducated.

Re: Looking for tips

The results are in and the winner was

The RX7 won by a pubic hair.

Sorry I let all the SY/TY guys down.

Best Run:------------ RX7--------Syclone--------Supra

60' -----------------------1.981--------1.846-----------Don't ask
ET-------------------------8.342--------8.396-----------8.6 ish
MPH----------------------84.537-------80.772--------- 89 ish

Scott (RX7) was runnning 8.4-8.5 all night until his last pass- his big smokey burnout sealed it.

Supra guy could not get his car to grip or he would have made both of us look silly. (65* temp outside)

My last 3 runs were with in 2/10 of a second and 4/10 of a MPH of each other.

Scott had the best time of the night.
I had the best 60' @ 1.810
Supra guy had the highest MPH at 89. ?

Thankfully nobody broke anything.

I appreciate all the tips.

It has been decided we are going for a triathalon. 1/8 mile, 1/4 mile, and a road course.

I already know how the 1/4 will end up, but Supra took his licks on the short track, I have to take mine on the long.

Re: Looking for tips

1.8?? 60'? gotta work on that launch. See mods below, my best 60' this year will be 1.76. Normally I am NOT that good. However anything under 1.8 brings a smile. It can be done just don't ask me.:rotf: Mostly luck...

Sounds like yur having fun, that's the best part.
