LSx oil pan

Re: LSx oil pan

I have test fit the Milodon pan. The RPM pan had more clearance towards the differential and held about 1/2to 3/4 quart more oil (Almost 6 quarts as I recall). Also the AN fittings for the oil lines are very close to the top of the differential. You would have to fit some very tight 90* fittings to get them on there. If I had the choice I'd pick the RPM over the Milodon in spite of having to use the external block oil feeds the RPM pan requires. With that being said the pan shown here shows a lot of promise. I always wondered why RPM or Milodon did not extend the sump to the passenger side to regain the lost oil capacity like the pan here shows. Very nice job Xplicit.

this is why I was determined to use a factory style pan with spin on filter for trouble free sealing and durability. The steel versions of these pans are far to thin for my liking and having to plumb them for external filtering adds alot of cost and design time.

Are you doing a single turbo or two? I am planning to do two, but I am so far from mocking things up that I don't know the answer to the next question: will having a spin on oil filter rather than remote filter, be close to the down pipe? I know it is a tight package, but running an external oil filter might get it away from the down pipe.

Renz: do you have any pictures of your setup? Do you have spin on or remote? Anyone else with twin turbo's have mock up or existing pictures that can shed some light on this scenario?

The differential or propshaft is going to be in the way long before the downpipe.

Like I said, I haven't even begun mocking it up. I am genuinely interested in one of these if it will work for me. The milodon is nice, but it will need some work. I am concerned that heat off the down pipe will be cooking the oil filter, but since I don't have it mocked up, and haven't seen any good pictures, it could be unfounded.

it's the propshaft that will be a nuisance well before your downpipe.

I have not decided on turbo yet I'm leaning towards single since it be cheaper then buying 2 but undecided as of rite now. I'm actually in middle of clearing a hole in garage to put it inside s I can start messin with it but I'm have to kick the white one outside also
