Like Dameon said.....either get with me or Mike @ RPM. He can get you SRPs and rings to match. I can get you most anything else you'll need (cam, bearings, Eagle rods, gaskets, sensors, tune-up stuff, etc.....).

If you wanna get one built for you, get with RPM or TurboTime.

Why would you just want to go a "little stronger then stock?"

If your going to be into the engine, buddy build it to last. Dont take short cuts.

Re: MOTOR BLOWN!!! 132,000 need help

Well for the last couple weeks ive been noticing that its had a ticking noise in the top of the motor...my guess was lifters....well last night i let my buddy drove it to the store he comes back and said cut off on him and it was ticking real bad...my guess he twisted it up like i told him not to and ****ed somthing up...anyways he made it back to the house and it wouldnt crank so I had to keep the gas on the floor and crank it to keep it running...i starting blowin smoke out of the inake and under the intercooler under the hood ...it was dark and i couldnt tell ecatly where but it was spraying a little oil out of the same direction too! it really sucks i havent had a chance to go look at...but I will be able to here in about an hour

Re: MOTOR BLOWN!!! 132,000 need help

I'd spend some money on the bottom end.....srp pistons, total seal rings, eagle CRS570063D rods, comp 412/415/422 cam, edelbrock 7801 double roller timing set, arp 2307001 oil pump stud, melling M55A oil pump, melling IS55E intermediate shaft, melling 210S pickup, and a full set of Victor gaskets. Top it off with your choice of heads and some quality lifters (comp 875), pushrods (manley 25734), studs (arp 1347101), and rockers (comp 1418).

That'll give you a solid engine for whatever turbo, IC, converter you wanna finish it off with.

my best friend workd at a machine shop and I could get all that installed for just about free. so how much do you think all those parts would cost....

Is that your basic rebuild list Hood? Or is that a rebuild to hit 10's with?

His rebuild could hold up to 10's hp levels. Phillip Long also hit 10.93 with a stock short block, but anyone with some knowledge of the strength of the stock parts wouldn't pick the stock parts for a build up because their is little margin of error. Basically better rods and piston are highly recommended in any rebuild and that is enough for 10's. A treated crank and 4 bolt mains would be more recommended for a 10 sec truck.

Phil, Dig, others have proven that the key to running fast on a stock engine is tuning and no detonation (C16, alky, whatever). So, yes, the build I listed above could easily go 10's if that's your goal. The remaining pieces and tuning will dictate the outcome more than the engine itself. If I was going for a 12 second rebuild on the cheap, I'd drop the rockers, rods, cam, and go with federal mogul pistons and hastings rings.

Re: MOTOR BLOWN!!! 132,000 need help

Ok are you sure thats the right specs for that cam.......also what compression ratio are you running with NO detonation on 93 pump gas....and also whats the deal with total seal rings? I think the crank is going to be the weakest part of this build...im gonna go with this build but the two things im gonna change is gonna be the timing chain to a comp and the pistons to trw....srp's are verry light but expensive the trw's are verry strong just a little heavy.

Re: MOTOR BLOWN!!! 132,000 need help

Cam Specs - http://www.syty.net/forums/showthread.php?t=15850

Compression Ratio - Stock - 8.35:1

Detonation - Many ways to reduce it - tuning, alky, good gas, etc...

Total Seal Rings - http://www.syty.net/forums/search.php? - There are many threads.

BTW, who said anything about zero detonation on 93 pump gas? Most guys running fast are using C16 or some leaded race gas variant and/or alcohol injection. The key for most trucks to run zero knock on pump gas is alky.

lol.....my bad, I thought it looked kinda funny i shoulda known it was the part#.....so you think it should be 8.35:1 ....see im not sure about all this im just the relay man for the guy at the machine shop.....!!!!

Re: MOTOR BLOWN!!! 132,000 need help

Stock CR is around 8.35:1, but what CR you should run depends on what you desire to put in the engine. Most people hang around stock CR levels (8.25:1, 8.35:1, 8.5:1, etc....), but I know of a few people running 9.0:1 due to lower cc cylinder heads, shallow dish pistons, thin head gaskets, etc.... TRWs, Victor head gaskets, and stock/L35 heads will keep you in the 8.35:1 range. Vortecs can raise it slightly as well as different head gaskets and/or pistons.
