I've got an old Astro van a guy gave me to move it outta his yard. The 2 reasons I took it was it had a '91 4.3 in it and it came w/ HydroBoost brakes. I think the van itself is a '90 though. It was a cable company panel van thiga majigger...and I'll bet this doesn't help one damned bit....

I'm crawling back under my rock....

If your at home and not overthere , you can unbolt it and measure it for me .No fluid runs through that connection . One part store is ordering me one to see if it works , if no he said he didnt care and would send it back to try again .

Re: My hydroboost install q ?

To tell you the truth I have been so busy with my new hood that I havent even gone back to the store to have him order it .Sanding to perfection so I can pull a mold goes too slow. I only get about a hour of "syclone time " per day and boy it goes quick .

Soon though , I will be done and tuning . My ostrich arrived today and I cant wait to use it also . Yeah I sure do have alot of helpful upgrades for the "no mods at all " I have below . Shit , keep em guessing I what I say ..

I think scott at detroit turbo has a complete setup for like 5-550 if you are wanting to save some leg work .

hmmm i wonder if the astro van is a direct bolt up set up lines etc?
brian,
i posted this already. get u a hydro setup off of a late model astro or safari van. i got mine @ the junkyard off of a 98 gmc safari, ordered a adapter from e @ turbotime and vioala direct bolt up. as far as the lines go. you can use the ones off the safari/astro or use braided hose. earls makes o-ring fittings that will screw in the feed and return on the hydrboost and the steering gear.

Re: My hydroboost install q ?

Update : the unit is installed !!!

Engine bay looks a little dirty but here are some pics of what it came out like . It came with a couple diff rods and one fit right in . I ended up having to weld the turbotime flange to my unit since the hole was the wrong size . Oh well , nothing up to this point was easy so why would my luck change now . Only thing I wish could have been better was the hydroboost flange coming with bolts welded in . I had one hell of a time holding both sides of the bolts being by myself and I didnt think of that until everything was assembled and painted .

Alright whats next on my list .....

Re: My hydroboost install q ?

I saw some earl's or russel's high pressure hose in jegs that I was going to buy . I wanted to make my own so I could run them however I thought looks best . It really gives you alot of extra space in the engine bay , you wont be disappointed .Later .

Re: My hydroboost install q ?

I would *assume* so . I ditched my abs when I upgraded to ls1 brakes on all 4 . In my setup , all I changed was the brake booster and power steering lines . All together it was little over $200 .

Re: My hydroboost install q ?

I missed your Q about my van and where I was. I'm over here (desert) and the van is over there (USA).

Glad to see you wooped it in the end. I need to do this conversion. With the factory booster, I have to remove the blower to get the driver's side valve cover off. Sucks a$$.

any more pics of detailed line routings etc thanks
It's pretty much PUMP to BOOSTER. Not a whole lot to it.

Figure out how long you "want" your lines and then go to NAPA.

Re: My hydroboost install q ?

I have everything in and I am happy with how it all looks .I will start her back up again real soon . I used all russel high pressure and used 3-90*'s and 1-45* . 10 feet of line left me enough for a spare back up line . The stering pump fitting and 90* had to be installed with the whole alt/pump engine bracket off . That part was major PIA .Other than that , I only needed 4 diff -an adapter fittings . I bought all 6 they offer and luckily they were all different sizes and i sent the other 2 back .
