Re: My hydroboost install q ?

The nipple is the low pressure return that you cut and tee into the steering low presure return . 3/8 tee and I will get the other part numbers later .

Re: My hydroboost install q ?

This is the Jegs order I placed and it may not be the best prices possible . Both of the mm steering adapters are o-ring , 1 goes in the power steering pump and the other goes in the steering box . I put the 45* in the box and the other 3 locations are 90* . The 45 looked close to how the line came from the pump and would work as a 90* if anyone wanted . The hose ends are not swivels so you must do one side and place/mark the other end . If you dont get it right , it will twist the hose and not fit properly when tightening .

0799640380 #6 5/8-18 F/P Power steering adapter $ 4.99
0799648050 #6-11/16-18 IF Power steering adapter $11.99
0799648060 -6x16mm P. Steering adapter $ 6.39
0799648080 -6 to 18mm x 1.5 O-ring $ 9.69
0799620411 #6 45* endura hose end $12.99
0799620421 #6 90* endura hose end $11.99 (x3)
0799632620 #6 Teflon pre-cut 10-feet $47.99

Besides that , you only need 3 feet of low pressure power steering return line from your local autoparts store and a 3/8 tee .I almost drew up a photoshop diagram for you , but I didnt know how many people read the crap I write and figured this was good enough. I know i had a lot of questions before that I couldnt get answers to , so I wanted to pay it forward and put this out there so hopefully it can help someone else .

You would be surprised on how many have been following this modification,

I know I will be installing one of these on my project Sy.
Thank you for posting the parts list on what you need for the installation.
You have saved me and other a lot of searching around for miscellaneous parts.

If you are that close to drawing up the diagram I know I will use it for a reference.

Yeah , That was the biggest obsticle for me , buying wrong sized fittings , shipping them back ,knowing what I want but not what I need, going store to store looking for this or that , getting that "LOOK" when I try to tell someone what I am trying to do and arguing with part counter guys that my truck isnt in thier computer and it is a custom application . I alomost kept the stock setup half way through this , so I am glad good things are coming from all this .

I will measure the length of the lines and attempt a photoshop creation for you guys .Thanks .

ps how does it work?
I am just getting to the body work paint phase and will let you know soon how it goes . I dont get alot of consecutive time to work on it and I still need to double and triple check all nuts and bolts before I make the maiden voyage . As much as I want to blast down the road , I want to make sure I dont overlook something and every new day I go out back to work on her , i see something else to check . Swapping frames is not a job I will ever do again , nor do I recommend it to anyone thats not crazy .

Re: My hydroboost install q ?

I did the swap just because of this post. I am also doing the astro pump and tank. I just never liked the way the factory pump looked, and since my new motor is going in it's the perfect time to change.

Thanks for providing this info, just placed my order using the above part numbers with summit and am going to do the hydroboost conversion while im putting in the new motor, seems like the best time.

Also wondering if you have driven on this system yet and can relay how the brakes feel and work and what kind of pedal feel yu have.

Sorry i ddint see this earlier . when I grinded out the booster, I left just enough to hold the retainer in and then switched grinding to the inside of the master cyl . Anyone else doing this , I reccommend getting the matching booster and master combo , So no grinding is needed .
To your question cloneman , the retainer and spring hold the rod in place when everything is bolted together . The inside of the master has a dimple that one side of the rod sits in , and inside the booster it is the same . As long as you didnt grind the rod too short , there isnt room for any lateral movement .

I have been busy working on our house the past couple of months and havent gotten any road time in . Still no tag or paint yet .

Tyson's syclone has hydroboost on it and he loves it . Different peddle feel , but stops like you want it to . Good for building boost while sitting also .

Re: My hydroboost install q ?

ok update mine is on and i tried it,holy shit i almost landed on the hood when i tried it the first time the difference is totally unbelivable i grounded just my hydroboost setup there is no lip for the retainer no more, but i put it back in and it seems to work perfect so far.the brakes are amazing and mikes diagram and parts list were perfect .

Re: My hydroboost install q ?

Good to hear, i have ordered all my hoses and fittings from summit and they should be here in a day or two, and i am bidding on a brand new hydro unit i came across on ebay off a 2005 3500 4x4, so far its under 50 bucks with about a day and a half left, hoefully it will work with turbotimes firewal plate with no trouble and illbe good to go.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=320006559920&ssPageName=STRK:MEBI:IT&ih=011

If anybody knows for sure this unit wont work, let me know before i buy another paper weight.

Re: My hydroboost install q ?

That looks alot like mine . That big nut will spin off and the 4 bolt plate can be easily swapped . I had to weld my turbotime plate to my unit because its hole wasnt the same size . Good plate though , nice and thick .

Yeah i just ordered my plate from turbotime, and if i have to weld it, than no biggie. Im hoping i can get away without grinding also, but thats still not a big deal, and im looking forward to doing this and haveing some real stopping power with the 4 wheel LS1 disks.
