Re: my small project

Hey Gary, why does your sig. say RPM stage 2? Did you buy something and not tell me :squint:

Either way it looks real good, I'm glad you kept the A/C now that I see people keeping theirs and still running hudge turbo's it makes me wonder why I took it out in the first place

Re: my small project

Yes, I upgraded to stage 2 on the turbo. It will be coated by RPM along with the x-over and manifolds.(Thanks Mike Lee)
With the choice of converters I figured to go up on turbo size and run a 2800 stall. Stage 3 will be pushing it with the stock bottom end so I figure the "2" will meet my goals of high 11's, low 12's with a good tune. Got my rear shaft today and my new alt. I use e-bay a lot and these guys were great. I recomend them to anyone looking for a good priced alternator http://stores.ebay.com/McGowans-Starter-and-Alternator

Haha, I knew it was only a matter of time until you bumped your turbo up for a bigger one :rotf: Hopefully I'll get to see your truck someday. I'm sure I will.

Just wanted a bit more go. I need it to keep up with Jeremy. My goal is to be close to his times.

Did a bit more today. lower intake, fuel, wireing,... Hope to have my trans by next weekend so I can do that. Then wait for my stuff from rpm and I am set. Guessing 3 weeks and I will have it all together. 4 weeks and I hope to start it up.

Re: my small project

Nice work Garyy. BTW, there is nothing special about what's under my hood. It's a bone-stock motor with just bolt-ons and lots of tuning. You'll be in the low 12s or 11s, for sure. BTW, what turbo did you go with and what's the HP rating? Glad to see you kept your A/C. You're going to want that this summer ;)

Re: my small project

Did some more today. Got the electric fan in all wireing done and PS done. Almost as far as I can go right now.
My motor is stock. Well the block, pistons, rods, can, crank are. Everything else is new. wish I had the cash to do the rods and pistons while it was out but I am tapped out. Down to my last few hundred. Figure I need at least 175$ for all the fluids as everything is dry. Compression was good before I took it apart. was just going to do the heads and motor mounts :D At least the engine bay looks new but still not as clean as yours, Jeremy. LOL
Turbo is a stage 2 from Rpm. rated at 75hp over stock. Not sure of any specs. I guess I should be close to you if tunned corectly. I plan on racing with 18-20lbs though.

Re: my small project

I gasket matched the upper and lower. Smothed the inside as much as I can. Theres a lip on the top of each port in the upper. I smothed that over. Not sure if it will do anything but it might help the alky and air flow better?? I guess. The lower was ported when I bought it. I never compared it to the stock one though. Stock is on the right before I cleaned it, ported on the left with about 10 hours stripping and sanding it. Looks like its going to take a while to do.

Dam, that thing is going to be sweet. Did you put motor in without the exhaust manifolds? I also painted my lettering and on the first hot run the paint melted and pooled in the letters, and that high temp paint. Keep in mind that the intercooler pump was not working at the time

Re: my small project

I used high-temp engine enamel (spray) on my plenum and never had a problem with the paint melting. I can look at the cans when I get home if you guys want the brand/color:

Re: my small project

could use the red color jeremy.
Exhaust parts are getting coated. Plus I figured I still have to adjust the engine mounts after the trans get installed so it would be easy to get to the bolts. All the work I have done i still wish I had more money to do more. Just have to save up again and get a nice RPM long block down the road. First I just want to enjoy my truck for at least one summer.

Re: my small project

Here you go: Dupli-Color Engine Enamel 500F Ford Red #DE1605. For the black, I used something similar, but don't have the part number. I actually applied some clearcoat for models by hand over the paint several days after it had dried to seal it. Turned out really nice and it's held up fine.

George, you should have painted the whole thing pink.:rotf:
LMFAO...
There is only one thing "pink" I like

BTW whoever said it is heaver then a 700r has to get their scale checked. I was able to lift it onto and off the suburban by myself . It felt about the same as the 700r. Maybe 20lbs heaver but the TC is in there.
