Re: My TT 408" project...

Dropped of aluminum parts today for welding...had some time to kill and decided to start installing the fiber glass parts while I wait.

Truck is stunning. Do you have a build thread on it anywhere? I'd like to see what you did to massage/smooth the firewall and the specs on the LS motor (if you care to share).

Not to thread jack, but where did you find the C5 Z06 wheels, and how much were they? Cheapest I can find them (for legit OEM Speedline or Alcoa wheels) is $250 ea., in marginal shape.

Here is some of the work done on the firewall to smooth it out. I knew I had some pics somewhere.

Stock bed weights 230lbs

FG bed weights in at 55lbs unfinished.

Total savings of 175lbs. at the most.

Realistically gunna save about 150lbs.

 Do you have a weight goal? Or just remove as much weight as possible?

I should be at about 3000lbs total race weight w/ 10 gallons of fuel as of right now.
Now Im gunna find some manual window doors and gut them out clean.
A chromoly cage should add about 60-80lbs.

Thanks for updating/posting about your build. Quite a few folks dont visit or publish these days with facebook and such.

BTW is your Syclone still AWD? Jamie Hacking hasn't release his latest changes for awhile but I believe his 2wd Syclone
is weighing 2750 pounds. With some more plexiglass, ceramic, and carbon fiber you might even get below your target.
Jason Leach's tube chassis might be the ultimate weight reduction (if really really serious). :)

Thanks for the link Larry.
The sy will remain AWD. My fuel cell weights 54lbs empty...I could swap it out for a small 5-10 gallon plastic cell. There is still a lil wiggle room to drop a few pounds. I dropped 20lbs myself. IMHO 3K lbs. is good for a twin turbo, iron block, (4)18x10.50 wheels, AWD setup.:D

Awesome, I appreciate the update. Out of curiosity, is that a Flaming River steering shaft into a manual box? If not, whose shaft is that, looks really well built.

Bruce, great to see the progress with the project. Wow! Nice build.

Thanks Adam...Its a circus/rodeo show trying to juggle everything at once.
I wish I had another set of hands helping me. I might take a week off on this and get my income taxes done.

Re: My TT 408" project...

More info on this please. Trucks coming along nicely!

I bought it off of ebay...I think someone posted a link to it on one of the pages.
The seller scammed me out of the dip stick that was suppose to come with it.
Ebay was going to refund me the money but required me to ship back the can to seller.
Problem is I already polished it and would loose out on the deal. If you buy one be sure to ask about the dip stick. I hate it when people list they have items in stock and really don't.
I have not posted negative feed back on him yet.
I think his username is Neikin or something like that.:D
