Need a power kill switch on the back of my truck to race?

I've never heard of this. I just purchased my truck a few months ago but the previous owner had it to a couple of tracks with no problems, but today when I went down to Portland International Raceway they said I had to have a power kill switch on the back of my truck since I have the battery mounted in a non stock location.

Crap. Any way to do this cheaply, without looking terrible, and preferably something that is easy to remove and install so I can put it on for the strip, then remove it. I'd hate to have a power kill switch just sitting on my rear bumper all of the time, I saw them on other cars and they were permanently mounted, looked terrible.

Put it where one of the license plate lights are. Moroso makes one that fits perfectly. Assuming the tech insp. will actually check it, you also need to have it kill the engine when it is turned "off". Summit sells a pretty easy kit to interrupt the charging system with a solenoid. Just unhook the stock charging wire, and connect this one in its place. It's a PIA to run all the wires, but the install is easy.

I'll be honest, I did NOT want to put this on my truck. But, it doesn't look bad at all by the license plate. I even painted the chrome switch black to help it blend in. You could remove the switch handle when you aren't using it (small screw holds it on), then it would almost be totally invisible. I also really like having a quick way to turn off my battery. It makes it really easy to work on electrical stuff.

I allready have a quick way to turn the battery off as I have one of these kits but it's hidden under my right rear fender, I just reach up and give it a turn which is nice. I just don't like having it out in the open like that. Tech does check it, I went to the track yesterday and they are the ones that told me I need it.

They did mention something about one with a t-bar that I could mount and let hand out from underneath my rear bumper cover, then quickly unscrew so I don't have it there when I'm not racing. I wonder if I need the whole kit or can just buy half of it somewhere and wire it into my existing kit?

What did you ever do to get the kill switch? I'm going to have to do the same thing with my syclone.

I never got one, ended up having to pull the motor due to fried mains. What I'll probably do though is get one of the kill switches that have a threaded t-handle, that way when I'm not at the track I can unscrew the handle and it won't be visible.

Yup, we have to pass tech here that requires a shut off for ANY battery relocate.
even if it is lowered from stock location.

Only other thing to consider is if someone comes up and throws that switch make sure it doesn;t disable your alarm.
Use an alarm battery backup for sure.

I've seen cars that hide it behind the tail light. Just pull the tail light at the track! Looks stock on the street still.
