ok im posting this for a buddy who has a 92 syclone. when he is in 4th gear on the freeway at about 65 the tach will fluxuate between like 2100rpm and 2400rpm and you can feel it when the rpm's change. now it dosent do this at lower speeds. what could this be.

Sounds like his torque converter may be locking and unlocking while cruising at 65. I vaguely recall some discussions about this topic (causes, cures, etc.) earlier this year. Might be worth doing a search on that topic.

well from searching the forums it seems like he either needs to do a trans flush or replace major parts. gotta love when something breaks.. lol

check the thermostat.

some trucks have had problems with 140 and 160deg thermostats and the stock chip, because it wont allow TC lockup until the motor is above XXdeg.

cant remember what the setting is, but i think its around 150~160deg.

OK THAT COULD BE IT TO CAUSE IT ONLY HAPPENES ON CERTAIN DAYS AND I THINK ITS WHENS ITS COLDER OUT. I BELIVE HE HAS A 140 DEGREE THERMOSTAT. NOW HOW WOULD I TELL HIM TO GO ABOUT CHECKING IT. OR SHULD I JUST TELL HIM TO GET A 160 DEGREE ONE.

TIA

it's 149 and if he wants to run that low thermo..then put in a manual switch or reburn the chip...
