Prepping for nats!

Re: Prepping for nats!

I think it gets to a point where it makes more sense to leave the bugs on until you get to your destination. After a while bugs are hitting bug bodies instead of your paint.

I wonder if the extra weight from bug bodies affects gas mileage.:rotf:

If it coats the rad enough, I guess it could cause cooling problems.:(

What if the bugs are the size of your truck like they are in the south? lol:rotf:

Started getting our ducks in a row.....The countdown has begun!

Picked this beauty up today......Need to fix some lights on it and put some toolbox's on it. Also need to install a new wench and a spare tire.

Then make sure all the bearings and brakes are good.

Then its time to make the trek to kentucky!

How much does one of those set you back? That's awesome mate, can't wait to see all these trucks here!

Re: Prepping for nats!

There's some stuff called fluid film that you can apply to the front end to supposedly keep the bugs from sticking. I haven't tried it personally, but I do have a free sample on the way courtesy of LS1Tech.com

Re: Prepping for nats!

Well, after doing some research it doesnt look like the ole gmc dually will pull 3 syty's safely. N ot to mention the gas milage and the chance of it breakin down. So, i went out today and traded mandi's dually in on another.

What ya think?.......think it will pull fine now?

Re: Prepping for nats!

It probaly got the LMM duramax and 6 speed allison. Unless it has the 6 speed manual in it. You will be able to tow those with ease now. I know some people pulling up wards of 30k lbs with duramax/allison duallys but they had their CDL becasue over 26k lb i think you need your cdl.

you will probaly want to put some air bags in the back depending on the tounge weight.

We are good on weight now, just needed a little extra cushion that the older dually didnt offer :) Although it probably wouldn't hurt yet I find the funds are running low lol. You are correct on the 26k part, we will be close but not too bad, as long as we are pulling what the rig is rated for we are good, harmon made me call DOT;)

Re: Prepping for nats!

Did I see the "modified" signature right??......did you get rid of the SS AND the Green dually for the new Truck?

Oh...and its 13Pelle not pelle13. Are we not supposed to be listing who we sold our trucks to and who we bought them from on our signatures?? Just wanted to check and make sure I didnt miss anything. LOL
