Re: Project: Typhoon 0437

Been a while since I updated this thread.. It's been a very long winter with my motor.. Sent it out roughly 7 months ago to get a major rebuild.. Things that are new this winter
72 turbo
Kenne bell headers
Ungraded fuel lines and rails with Walbaro 450 pump
Bored .030 over
Blocks half filled
Eagle rods, forged Pistons
422 cam
Vortec heads w/ gold crane cam 1.5 rockers
Holley HP computer system
Motocam hood strut kit

Can't remember what else I've done, getting the exhaust done Tuesday and also should have my valve covers same day. Still need to button a few mechanial things and then get the wiring system hooked up.

Re: Project: Typhoon 0437

Clean build. It takes all my free time to work to maintain my ONE Typhoon, BIG props to you for having three of these machines!

Re: Project: Typhoon 0437

Lots more progress made, and even more progress has been made since this photo. Got the exhaust made, it has been wrapped since the picture. Also I picked up a set of tall sbc valve covers, and had them
Shortened by the same guy that did my exhaust. I have since pulled them back off to get fittings installed for a catch can. Also have to modify the tube for cylinder 1 on the header to clear the drivers side valve cover tomorow also. I also started organizing the wiring from the stock harness and the Holley harness. I'm getting closer to finally starting it!!

Re: Project: Typhoon 0437

I know you had some issues with the last set up with a larger turbo and stock short block. Did you ever sort those out? or did you find any mechanical issues when you tore the original motor down?

Re: Project: Typhoon 0437

The original block that came out my typhoon couldn't be used. It was already bored .030 over which was a suprise to me, but the lip at the top of the cylinder walls would have required to much boring to clean it out. Once he found that out, I started looking for a new block. As for the rings and Pistons they all looked fine when they came out, but I did no reuse them

Re: Project: Typhoon 0437

Typhoon is officially back on the road, been on the phone a lot with Alex over at Steve Morris engine, he has gotten this motor to run so nice and smooth! Extremely happy with his customer service, very friendly and explains every single thing he does, I've had so many questions and He answers every single one without hesitation. I've also slowly got into some boost, I need a dial
Back timing light which I should get tonight to get the timing dialed in more. Other then that really happy to have it on the road.

I'm a big fan of the cowl hood and white mirrors. I think I'm going to do the same to my mirrors. What's the black circle on the hood by the cowl?
