rack and pinion set-up for sy/ty

i would like to know if there is any interest in a rack and pinion set up for the sy-ty. i made one that fits as a bolt on to the sy-ty. with all the parts. i have one on my ty and it works great .with rpm headers the question everyone ask is. what the ratio well i'm more of a builder then a tech. if any one would like to tell me how i could tell if it turns more then, let say the stock ration. let me know how. and i will let you guy know . the kit would include a rack and pinion rebuilt if you want one new, it would be more . guy i'm not making money in this, i just want to help the sy-ty community . i would like to know if there would be interest in the kit. i there is interest i would take my kit apart from my ty to take picture so you can see the hole kit .please dont tell me your interested if you are not a dont have lot of free time to waste on taking the kit apart. you can see it turn with the z06 9.5 17" rim on the video . if you dont want to see the hole video you can skip to the 35 sec on the video and jump again to 305 min to the end .thanks if any question just use the forum .

I may be interested in it down the road. But I am interested in the gaskets you used on the cladding/side of truck. I'm just about to repaint my truck and would like to put gaskets on the cladding to keep it from scratching.....

can you just bolt one in?I would think there is more to it than that with suspension movement and steering etc?

I'd be curious to know what rack you used. Have you driven it around and if so, how does it perform?

Re: rack and pinion set-up for sy/ty

it a bolt on. all you have to do is cut a 1' of the bracket of the ft/diff off with a grinder. is a easy thing to do .you don't jeopardizes the diff mount by doing that .and that why it took me so long to built, because i want it to be a bolt on so people could put it one with out having to weld anything. i have driven it with no problem the steering is smooth and very responsive it has no play on the steering wheel like the stock set up . and i would say you would be saving about 10 to 15 pound of the stock set up

I would buy a setup for 750. But I don't want to be the first to try it out though.

Will this use the existing power steering pump?

Where is the rack coming from? Is it new? Reman from Autozone? If it goes bad in the future, is there a warranty? If not where do you get another one?

Re: rack and pinion set-up for sy/ty

it a manufacture rack .it will have warranty , but remember you can opt for a new one, it your decision . this picture were when i was installing it and a old rack was uses. sense then it install it and it works great the pump it the original one that the car uses .
