Re: rack and pinion set-up for sy/ty

bump-steer and twitchiness can be a problem if the geometry is off - but the rack sits in the same line the drag link normally occupies, and if the 'tie rods' are the same length it will be just fine...

Believe me, the factory S-10 steering geometry is nothing to write home about..... your rack and pinion install may actually make it better :)

Re: rack and pinion set-up for sy/ty

here is a video of the steering in action i have driven the the truck personaly i have not had any understeering problem nor having to fight the steering wheel left and right so problem like that up to now have not being an issue . i still have to align the truck the only reason i haven't done that is that i took my motor a part to put some nice goodies in it.

Re: rack and pinion set-up for sy/ty

you mention the rpm headers - does this setup also work with stockers?
bump steer might be an issue if the geometry is of - i would realy suggest extensive testing under different driving conditions - highspeed, bumpy roads, slalom.... before you start selling the kits.
the stock steering is horrific when it comes to high speed driving - too soft, no response and also some quirkyness with suspension load - i have the quick ratio box, solid steering shaft, new tie rods, new idler arm - still unhappy.

Re: rack and pinion set-up for sy/ty

i have driven it to 85 mph no problem .i have a stock typhoon which i'm goint to try it on. to see if it works the same. it has stock headers. but it will be some time before i try it on..i'm sure it not goint to be a problem i did it having that in mine sense i know that more than half the people have stock headers.
