Paint cladding body color or flat black?
Finally have the truck running decent and its been dropped off with the painter. While he fixes some cladding issues, I'll have to get back to him about which color I want... leaning toward body color since it will give the cladding a layer of protection.

Any input is welcome.

I'm storing a 92 Ty for a friend in my main garage, so every day I see it. Freshly restored. Black on black. Cladding is flat...maybe semi gloss. Is a very sharp look, in my opinion. Contrasting color/sheen makes the cladding pop, and more noticeable. :2cents:

This is funny, because i am in the very same boat. I have it all off and ready for paint, just cant decide on what i want. Matching the body will be easier to clean and take care of i have been told. Don't know how true that is. Though i do like the look of the original Matte color.

Painter told me the same thing. Easier to paint and to maintain if cladding and body paint matches.

I voted for gloss black.... But you know what would look sick, argent cladding... maybe I'll do my Sy with argent cladding when I do a repaint... It'll match my Ty!!

I wonder if it is possible to wrap our cladding? Not sure of the adhesive quality....perhaps someone with the technical know how could weigh in.

Yes, very possible. Was weighing on that option too. Personally, the paint on mine is crap. So i didn't want to wrap it, and come a few years down the road (because wraps don't last forever) peel it off and look and my crap paint again lol.

Should it be primed and wet sanded prior to wrapping?

Reason I ask is because I was gonna have the cladding on one of my Syclones wrapped last month but the local company said they wouldn't do it and if I chose to, they definitely would not warranty it. For a 48000 mile truck, the cladding looks awful....almost looks like somebody sprayed plastidip on it with some peeled off.

No, surface just to have to be VERY clean and smooth. ANY imperfections in the paint, will come through on the wrap, even little lings like rock chips, and spider cracks

But for your case, if the paint on the cladding is that bad, some sanding and prep might be necessary.
