I learned there was a law in my state that said if I can pass state inspections and agree not to drive my toy more than 5K miles a year I can get an exhaust emission exemption, and a street plate. sooo, i went down to the local tire store and got one.

well anyway, while I was there, there was this nice guy with a 80 something vette with a big nitrous bottle in the back window gettin new shoes. actually it really was a nice vette. I mosey over and checked out his motor. "big block, 503 "he says. nice I answer. "that your little pickup truck" he asks. "yep" i answer. "cute" he says. he takes a little look. "6 cylinder is it". he says with a little smirk. (everythings going real nice.) heeheeheeheehee!

so they ask me to start it up for the the emissions test, the one I don't have a prayer of passing. "Holy shit" he says. that don't sound quite right. "more like a NASCAR motor than a little 6!!!!! how much horsepower that thing make" "oh... it makes a bunch" I answer.

so I start to walk away and he says "I wonder how close you could stay to me??????" EXcuse me!!!! how close can I stay with you!!!! ( oh, thank you God)

so... " why don't we give it a try" I smiled. next thing I knew I was out on the street. me and my little jim stokes syclone that makes about 750 horsies. sucker...your ass is mine! Pulled 3500, launched, got a little sideways in 1st and 2nd, and only went to about 80 or 90. probably held it on for about 5 seconds. by then he was so far behind it didn't make much sense. when we stopped he looked a little sick and said it was too bad his nitrous tank was empty.

yea right. heeheeheeheeheehee. I betcha he still doesn't believe it. wonder if he'll tell any of his friends he got whupped on by a little 6 banger pickup truck?

we're gonna have some fun this summer

Yep - Pennsylvania. That's the only way mine gets it emission sticker too! :p They also have a law that AWD vehicles are exempt from the Dyno emission test, cuz most stations only have 2 wheel dynos.

Great story. ::thumbsup:: I gotta get my head gasket fixed!!

hi mark

They feel strong, but mine always felt strong before. It went 10.81 last year and it was running rich. I'm tryng to go to Norwalk this weekend and see what it does with a clock but the weather forcast looks pretty crappy. did you get the L35's on ok? notice any difference? Stokes told me that he didn't think the vortecs would make much difference because they are limited by the intake and your heads have so much work in them. not sure I totally agree. It seems to have a little more in the bottom without the turbo spooled as high. I actually took the guy for a ride after in mine and he couldn't believe how fast it was. I know there are other ones out there that run as fast or faster than mine. Who's got the record now for AWD and what is it and what does he have in the truck. Mine sure sounds a little different. jim longwith finally got his vortecs on and running and he says the difference over stock heads is remarkable especially in the low end.

The heads seem to be making good power, the're just begging for more fuel. I'm thinking they'll shave off that extra .009 off the 11.008 pretty easily.
