It depends on who you ask...
All i can say is yes-little less(20%) and half.
you figure it out...

Ummm, that answer sounds exactly like the '02 ZO6 to me? Not that that is bad, but I figured for its 50th anniversary there would be a Viper Killer?

I've heard from a reliable source in Bowiling Green that the 04 regular street coupe is /("might be") 425 horse. That's the regular street coupe not the z06.

As for C-5s in general i had a '99 i bought new and it ran 13.40 @ 106.6 mph "STOCK!" which is unusual for a stock coupe. My buddy in BG says it's like any car some run better than others, but in the case of mine they probably did some playing with it on the dyno and fine tuned it.He says they do that with some of them.My run (the above mentioned) was in BG and was in heat on a 80 degree day on the stock goodyear run flats.I had all kinds of vette people lookin at my car and shocked at it being stock.I even had some of the VETTE VENDORS comin over to see the car,one of which i just beat his hardtop 5-spd.

As far as the VETTE I had i believe it to be 1(it was one of the better running cars) and 2(the way i broke it in).Not trying to slame sys but i'd put the car i had up against any stock or slighty mod sy and would bet on beating it,i know i wouldn't beat it off the line but i'd bet on mph'ing it.
I've been racing and wrenching for years and i know what i had.Not trying to slam anybody just putting in my 2cents on this thread."Have a nice day....."

P.S. in case you are wandering my buddy works at the VETTE plant and is a couple notches under the plant manager. The plant is located in BOWLING GREEN KY and is 25 min from my driveway.

I think they've got it. What does a new Viper go for? About $70-80k? Half only makes sense when applied to one of the criteria listed above and that's price. Putting the Vette at $50k. That leaves yes and little less (20%) to apply to weight and horse power. That gets you either a 2400 lb car with 500 hp or a 3000 lb car with around 400 hp (more likely.) They are already making around 400 hp and Lutz wants to lighten the car, but 20% is some serious lightening.

Isn't it fun making WAG's!

Bob Lutz is a traitor. LOL hahaha

Seriously, I hope he does well with the Corvette.

My buddy at the plant & the plant manager said the Z06 will continue to be a hard-top-only.
Just a little FYI.

The main reason they use this body type is because G.M. spent a ton of $$$ on the tooling to built these coupe's and they were not selling for squat!!!So to get the use of the tooling they mandated that all Z-06's would be coupes.quote]
Not to sound like a smart-ass but i think u mean hard-tops.
That's all they're building now in the Z06 & planned for the future. Not only has the plant manager & my buddy that's & engineer there told me that but i read it in an article in the museums magazine.I'm a life time member at the museum also.

No offense intended but my Syclone will not stay anywhere close to my Z06 in stock fashion. Now, if you are talking mods, that changes things completely. LOL
