Hey all. I picked up a Start/Stop button for the SY and want to use it like the new cars have. Does anyone know how to wire these and anything else that will need to be done in order for me to be able to start the Sy and shut the engine down with the button setup? Thanks.

Re: Start/Stop button wiring???

I have looked into it a bit and its a lot of work. The main reason I chose not to do it was because you will need to disable the column lock unless you keep the key. If I were to still have to use the key then what is the point other than a "cool" factor. If you take apart the steering column and get rid of the column lock, then bypass the ignition cylindemr then you can wire up the switch to activate the starter. But it wont shut it down that way. There are kits out that can do start stop, and can monitor the tach wire similar to remote start so it doesnt over crank, and can kill the engine with the same button. They still require the column modification to function as true push button though unless you use the key.

Ya, it's got a Turbo

You're asking one button to do 3 jobs. Accy, Ign & Crank. That's a lot to ask. It can be done, but it won't be a simple task. Not to mention the steering interlock. That's another story...

Re: Start/Stop button wiring???

Someone was telling me last week that there is a company making fuel pump relays that have a proximity remote. When you get near the truck with the fob, the truck functions as normal, when you walk far enough away, the relay will no longer work and won't start. That would definitely work for your anti theft dave. Now someone needs to find out who makes these, I plan on searching for it myself.

Here I found this, see what you think. http://www.mastersentryseries.com/starter/index.shtml
