Stock C6 Z06 goes 10's

The explanation on these freak times is quite simple, its called NEGATIVE DA conditions.

If you guys ran your trucks in the same conditions (High pressure, low temperature, low dew points, and sea level tracks) you would also run .3-.4 faster than your best times.

The new Z06 will do 0-150 in 5th gear alone. No shifting.

edit: and I believe this is a repost...maybe not. Ranger ran a 11.13 @ 127.2 on stock tires. It's very possible

I have heard that the LS7 are underrated by 30-40hp and magazines tend not to be the best driver in world. it still just seems unbeleivable that it can do squeak a high 10 or even going back to low 11's on street tires. GM must have done a bunch work on the suspension and perhaps throttle response (eletronic thottle), because all my buddies running c4 in the 11 sec range typically lost 3/4 sec (and major traction issue) when they were running street tires.
Maybe underating is the case. It certainly wouldn't be the first time GM has done that.

But all other things being equal, doesn't mph stay pretty consistent regardless of the E.T. (i.e. a good driver vs. an average one)?

Granted, I have never driven anything close to that fast, but my 13 second Dodge Spirit has run a 13.3 @ 110 and a 15.0 @ 110 depending on the launch (2.2 sec 60' vs. a smokey 3.0 sec 60').

That was my other hunch. A little bit of underrating from GM and near perfect ambient conditions could make the power difference needed to trap 130 and cut those times.

Ok. You guys have convinced me.

Magazine drivers DO suck at driving...They piloted my Speed6 to a 14.8 @ 88 mph while I ran a 13.9 @ 98mph bone f'n stock on a 90 degree humid day.

These guys (Especially Ranger) have made a shitton of passes, apparently the Z06 takes some skill to cut a good 60 ft time with it so that makes for a good trap time.

Ranger actually provides a course of sorts. "The Driver Mod"

http://www.rangeracceleration.com

from the site:
"I’m an amateur driver who's invested six years and 570 drag strip passes focused on demystifying the techniques for max acceleration by severely traction-limited cars with manual-transmissions."

a really good friend of mine has been in the dyno shop when two of his buddies have had their stock zo6's put 470 to 480 TO THE GROUND. completely stock , then with a flash on their computer put out an add. 50 hp. he's no liar either. those cars are insane

How could the engines be underrated? They are the first to be included in the official SAE engine power certification program GM has been touting! So it's not like they are "guessing" at the power any longer like they did with our trucks. This time they actually have numbers to substantiate it (as I understand it - I don't own a Z06).

I still get a kick out of the Z06 owners on the corvette forum asking "Does this mean we are all driving 10 second cars now?" Why would what someone else's car ran, have anything to do with how fast your car is? A car without a 10 second timeslip ain't a 10 second car. :2cents:

If they said that it makes 505 then it could very easily make it. Could they not say that is what it made and not disclose the peak number? Just a thought....

Mine dynoed 463rwhp stock, 477rwhp tuned/stock, and 488rwhp with a K&N induction and tuning.

There is power to be had by tuning but nothing close to 50hp.
