Re: Syclone #136

Before you get that nice new diff cover mounted up, drop me a line if you want to "loose" the Trick Flow in favor of something more exotic ;)... I'm going to be East of the border and will be in the 'burgh early next week. Hitting the slopes in NY again too .

We'll do dinner when you head East, slopes i'll pass. In the mean time, i'll measure the material thickness of the diff cover, to see how deep you can go.

How far are you from Peek 'n Peak? I bet one the peer pressure of having one more syclone owner would convince Brandon to attend :p!

Coolio ! I engraved the block off plates that I did for the Shindig .030" deep and that doesn't look too bad:

I have done stuff as shallow as .010" but I wouldn't recommend that for you :

Re: Syclone #136

After our chat on the phone, I guess that you are interested in my most recent conversion to CAD:

I can sandblast it in our cabinet at work after I engrave it so that it will have a cast look to it. That will help get it some "tooth" for when you paint it also... I'll let you know about next week as soon I know what's going on !

How much to engrave 4.9 Turbo or Typhoon on my Trick Flow rear cover. I can mill it flat if you would like.

has between 7k and 8k on it. its a AC Delco shortblock, with i-beam rods, flattop pistons and 2bolt mains. Heads are stock LB4 with stock springs, rockers, etc. Cam is unknown, but 99% sure its a stock SyTy cam. Its sitting in the corner of the garage... interested?

Re: Syclone #136

its a non-balance shaft block. everything is assembled and includes:

block, crank, rods, pistons, mains, oil pump, cam, timing set, timing cover, lifters, lifter plates & spider hold-down, pushrods, LB4 heads completely assembled, pastic vortec v-covers. The oil pan is pretty much junk, the turbo return line is worn out of it, so there's just a hole.

honestly, it would probably cost more to ship it then its worth.

Re: Syclone #136

I received your parcel the other day. Looks like the folks at the post office are as rough on parcels as everyone else :

Fortunately, it didn't get damaged but as you can see, just a slight tug was all it took to pop that flap off... That's why I am never afraid to use tape like it is going out of style.

Re: Syclone #136

damn, the woman at the post office even used the packing tape and did 2 layers on both ends. they must've been really hard on it.

When its ready, i'll stop over and pick it up.

Re: Syclone #136

got the rearend stripped and painted, the Fbody backing plates mated to the brackets, the axles reinstalled, and i'm test fitting the brakes now.

Once everything checks out, it'll go back under the truck, and get that awesome diff cover on.

I checked my plug gap on the plugs i was running during the dyno, and they were .035+. Yikes on 23psi, no wonder it broke up at 4600. A new set of NGKs and a blaster coil will be going on next.

just to update anyone interested.

lack of motivation is killing my winter mods, Still havent put on Campbell's amazing diff cover yet. I just finished running new brake lines to the rear LS1 discs, with a proportioning valve. Still have to mount the alky reservoir. It doesnt fit in the stock coolant location due to my large charge piping. Still have to buy a MSBC and wire a switch for easy launches. And i'm still indecisive about wheels, i've bought a couple ZR1 wheels individual, trying to put a set together. But they're far and few between. So i'll probably just buy a set of clean stockers, and mount DRs. And waiting for the next batch of Battle Bars.
