Taylor, Magnacore, or Accel?

Hey guys, just wondering what you all prefer in the way of wires. I have heard good things about all of them: Taylor, Magnacore, and Accel. It seems the Taylors and Accel are a good value, just wondering if the Magnacores are worth the extra money. Thanks guys!

Oh! BTW the truck is basically stock.

accel are junk, i had a used set of taylors and they had less resistance than a new set of accels.

taylor all the way!

I agree and disagree if that makes any sense. The normal accel wires are junk, but if you get the performance wires they work. I know John runs them on his 10 second Ty so they must be fine

Most people seem to use Taylor wires. I'm going to use Taylors and heat wrap them with the following kit:

This thread reminds me of all the work I have cut out for me.

Accels are junk. I used to burn through those things in months.

Taylors FTW, never had issues since I switched. Tucker Auto carries em too....support your syty vendors!

Taylors here too. Been using them on the truck for the past ten years. Not the same set though... Bought a crimper last year so that I can start making my own wires.

I've taken several sets of Accel wires off trucks, and they run better. (Race wires, 300+, doesn't seem to matter.)

Save your $. Go buy a set of Autolite Pro. Put the Thermotec sleeves around the boots... they'll last as long ad perform as well as big money wires.

Wire routing is *everything*. If you're sloppy about where you route wires, you'll have problems.
Use the stock looms where possible, and tie wrap the # 6 to the IC support bracket so it stays away from the DP. If you can't get a finger between the DP and the wires, reroute.

Also, contrary to popular belief, dielectric grease does not conduct electricity. In fact, it does the opposite.
If you use it, smear it on the insulator of the plug, and then push the wire on... this minimizes the amount that gets on the terminal.

huh... interesting, Ive always just put a bit on the end of the boot and put it on the plug. Will have to do this method next time...

I had a set of magnacores last 5 years!!with headers and a msd.

How many miles do you drive your truck every year? I drive mine less than 3K per year and have been through probably three sets of Taylors in almost ten years.

Ive got a set of Magnacores that are about 10 years old on the Sy but the only have about 6000-7000 miles on them. They still look like new. Never had any problems at all. The only complaint Ive ever had is that they are too big to fit in the factory wire holders.

A set of Taylors have been on the Ty for about 5 years/5k miles. They work great, look great but one of them came apart last time I changed the plugs. They did cost alot less than the Magnacores though.

Same i dont drive all that mutch,But most of the big marine engines we play with use them and they work very well,i just think they are a better wire.

Re: Taylor, Magnacore, or Accel?

I had a lot of burned wires on the v6 so i bought the "summit" crimper tool ($25 at the time) and a 25 foot roll of 8.5 msd wire (i think it was around $40) and made my own wires and routed them best i could away from the headers and all. Would still burn one once in a while but i could just make a new one or shorten it if it was burned right at the end. You can make quite a few plug wires from a 25 foot roll!

Taylor's with (1) Taylor thermal boot around #6. No problems. They will go back on my new build after I double check their resistance.

I put on Taylor wires. They were a good price, no issues yet. I only have about 500 miles on them though.

I had magnacores on my 87 gn last six years up until I sold the car.. I never changed them and never had a problem with them and there loved by the turbo buick community.

I have been using taylor spiral pro's with the syclone and they don't last too long but I don't have heat shielding sleeves. I have had a few bad plug wires from taylor out of the box so check them out before you use them
