If an item is posted for sale publically for all to see, those responding should respond publically for all to see. Whoever calls dibs needs to pony up with the $$$ within a day or two or forfeit their place on the pecking list. That's my take on the whole thing. If someone can take the time to PM or privately email, they have the time to respond publically. Then there is no doubt who is first, second, third, etc.

If you really want what ever it is up for grabs and are serious, do what I do. Copy / cc / forward to the post, a PM and the e-mail if it's listed. Short of that, first is first and if some one questions it just post a copy of the PM, e-mail or what ever. Posting publicly is easiest but I have had occasions to PM only for a reason. If I was replying two seconds after the post and was told some one else was first, what does it hurt to just show that first reply? Absolutely none and you can blank out personal info, prices and such to just show the time sent.
I mean damn guys, we are supposed to be adults here. If some one is playing favorites or takes a higher second / later offer after the first guy said sold at the posted price...... that's dirty pool and the crooked seller should be tarred & feather, burned at the stake and generally de-nutted with a dull rusty butter knife for not putting it on E-gay in the first place or at least saying "best offer" :tup: I posted on "saying sold" arranging payment and then not following through a while back and that sucks even worse cause it's boxed labeled and ready to go then the "buyer" flakes out. That happens on E-gay all the time and you pay for it. One more reason why I post all my stuff here first before I go to e-bay. Even if I could get more for it there, it's a bitch and they just raised the fee's AGAIN! Besides we need to help each other out all we can and "keep it in the family" :tup:

I would look to see when the PM was sent and compare with what time the post or reply was posted up in the thread.. and go with the one that was placed first.

If you commit on the forum thread for all to see, there is NO doubt nor speculation as to who was first and it completely eliminates all the childish fussing. 250rtone has done the mature thing even though he ponied up first (recently on an old thread) to buy the items straight out.....no email me pics and let me toss it around; will you take a bit less, etc. It takes more time to email or PM than it does to simply type "Dibs, advise me how to pay" but then to, that's my opinion.

I wasn't referring to any specific case just in general. If somebody doesn't want what they are buying out there for everyone to see then they send a pm or email. If either of those is recieved by the buyer prior to a post in the thread why shouldn't they be first? Thats why I agreed with Ryans take on it.

LETS ALL END IT HERE NOW I CALLED DIBBS PENDING PRICE BECAUSE IT WAS A VERY OLD POST AND I WANTED TO BE FAIR IF HE WANTED LESS OR MORE JUST NEEDED THE AMOUNT YES I PUT PENDING PRICE BUT FOR THE SELLERS BENEFIT IT GAVE HIM AN OPPORTUNITY TO RAISE OR LOWER THE PRICE HE POSTED A VERY OLD POST FROM MONTHS BACK THAT LOOKED LIKE HE MAY OR MAY HAVE NOT SOLD THINGS I THOUGHT THERE WAS HONOR AMONGST ALL OF YA'S? Yea Jeff you hit the nail on the head there.. as you now I wasn't referring to any one instance also.. just stating how I've handled my dealings on here so far and what I think would be the easiest and most effective way of selling items on here is.

OK...Lets settle this and be done, pay the man for the fuking parts and be done with it!! This bickering back and forth is causing nothing but bad posts. I am not arguing if you were first or not, i stated that in the for sale forum. I don't want the canuck members looking bad :rotf: .
