me and my friend are saving up a hurricane fund right now to get down to daytona beach again if a hurricane comes that way. I really want to experience one and party through one. Last year we came down in between the 2 big ones that hit, great weather but was dissappointed we missed a hurricane. :lol:

Well. This one thats forming looks like it might hit around central florida. So come on down, lol. The last major one last year, I had 80 mph winds. The eye was about 90 miles from my house. It was fun.
I lost no power during it. It was after. How screwed up is that!

hmm... we went through the eye of all 3 storms last season.
Renz, you got someone you know at Daytona, cause usually when they evacuate (which they start doing early now) they close off all the bridges and the hotels are not available.
You might have to rent a white van and wear a rain slick and pretend your part of Channel 9 News Weather Team with Viper Radar. Now that would be some funny shit.

If any of you are Mac users and have Tiger with Dashboard, there are some pretty badass weather tracker Widgets to download off apples site.
They have a variety of stuff from hurricane trackers, to up to date doppler and radar loops.
I have a G5 that I use at work... bout the only time I'll use a Mac (the PC resides next to it though) :tup:

my friend lives right on the beach in daytona beach. I was going to have him show up at your last meet there and pretend to be me. :lol: Last year he met up w/ Jim Cantorna and the rest of TWC crew...had them at their place doing shots. They have pics of it...its histerical.SYO237 said:

I think the NOAA is predicting another 11-15 storms before the end of this season (in November). That's retarded. Katrina is going to go the panhandle, everybody is going to get freaked about the oil in the gulf and gas prices are going to skyrocket in the next week or two. I think this is where we'll see close to $3.00 a gallon.

I'm back. No power but I'm running on my Hurricane Andrew generator after a fast carb rebuild. Phones came back this morning so I have the DSL back. Window A/C unit in the bedroom so I can sleep, the rest of the house is 88 degrees. Sy, Z28 and Dakota are safe, Dakota has already been to the dump with 4 loads of branches and debris. Half the screens on the patio enclosure are gone. Lost all 3 carport canopies, two of the frames are saved the third is a pretzel. That's the one the Ty was in, when it went it left two small dents on the hood. I went out in the middle of the storm and fought the remnants of the frame off of the Ty and moved it to where the Z28 was and left the Z out in the middle of the driveway. Roof gone on the shed and a few small leaks in the roof above the kitchen inside. Complete Blazer interior in the shed is completely trashed.
Surprisingly little real structural damage in my area. Lots of trees and foliage down or damaged. Some fences hit but roofs ok. A few cars hit by falling trees. They say power back by friday at the latest. Thanks for all the calls, I think I got back to everyone. Cell didn't work for 2 1/2 days so I had to drive a mile or more north to get a signal. Talk to everyone soon.

Ouch Gary! Sorry to hear you got hit so hard.
I've got to count my blessings. For the past 35 years, I've been living within a 10 mile radius of the house where I grew up, and I've NEVER been hit by a hurricane. (A bunch of 'em have skirted by me, but I've never had sustained winds over 74 mph.)
We have a small tree toppled over in our backyard, but it's in the uliity easement behind our property line, so the homeowner's association will have to prop it back up. Power flickered out a few times, but never more than a few minutes at a time. (Beats the he!! out of last year's 3 day outage.)
Alabama, Mississippi & Louisiana are among the states I manage...my guys over there are getting hit right about now. By comparison, we got off pretty easy here in South Florida.
