Tires for 9.5 x 16 wheels?

Does such a tire exist anymore? The only thing I can find is a 275/45-16 drag radial and that not exactly what I'm looking for.

Even used tires would be fine but I have been searching all over the place for the past 24 hours and I can't come up with anything! Heck, Nitto only makes 3 lousy tires that fit 16" wheels anymore. I understand that everything comes with 17-22's now days, but damn this is crazy.

Should I just give up and sell these wheels to some Euro-douche tire stretcher because a 245/50 looks stupid as hell on a 9.5" wheel.

What type of wheel?
they are some sweet circa 1990's Prime Style 255's, front's are 16 x 8 +13 offset, rears are 16 x 9.5 +32 offset. They aren't correct for a SyTy, but they are correct for a 2WD S-Series.

This is a 245/50R16 stretched onto the 9.5 wheel.

The proper size would be 255/50/16 ...I went through the same ordeal with my wheels. They too are 16x9.5 and I really don't like the look of stretching the stock tire size. I have pics of them installed, they needed to use an extra air tank to shoot air into it to get it to seat properly.

well, a 255/50R16 would work, however the front wheels are 16 x 8 and have the correct 245/50R16 on them, the 255's would work since they will end up on my 2WD Blazer, but thats going to force me to change out the front tires as well since the side wall bulge would be noticeably different, making it go down to some 215/60 or 225/55 pizza cutters up front :D If I could sell the 245's it wouldn't be a big deal I guess...

255 50 16 was a corvette size in the 80's, and I would think is readily available.

Earlier this year tire rack had some 255/50-16 BFG Drag Radials on clearance that I was tempted to buy. It seem like that size is no longer exists.

yeah I dont see a drag radial in that size on tire rack, but they do make a radial that size, but for my purpose I'd be more tempted to buy a used tire like the ones above on eBay if someone had a set, like these.

If it becomes a headache I'm probably just going to polish them up and throw them on eBay. :squint:

My ty has 255x50x16 bridgestones on 9.5x16 Riken mesh wheels-only ones that could be found to fill that 9.5 wheel. They are long gone in that size.Looking at the same problem?

84 to 88 vettes had 255/50x16's on 9.5 rims. I have them on my 87. I haven't searched before posting, but last time I looked, BFG, Kumho and Sumitomo still produced them. I think some 80's Porches also used that size too.

Re: Tires for 9.5 x 16 wheels?

mickey thompson now makes a drag radial in that size. Would these work on all 4 corners of stock wheels. They would be a little taller than stock if I am thinking it through correctly and would this require a mph calibration?

I am running 255/50-16 MT drag radials right now. I haven't had a chance to run them at the track, I expect to take a trip to the track in the next 1-2 months. So far I like them. The extra height should help me a little since I was running out of rpm at the end of the track in D.

Cool did they through off your speedometer enough to warrant recalibration? Any adverse effects that I am not considering

I did not recalibrate my speedometer. Mathematic it will be off 1.5% or 1mph slow at 65mph.
