Adam, I would appreciate if you could give more info. I am a real dumb ass when it comes to stuff like this. Do I just need to unbolt the TB and unhook the vacuum lines, etc. and unbolt near the fuel rail, and then I can pop the upper intake right off? As long as I am gentle, I can clean it, and replace it and snug it down without having to replace the gasket? Don't skip any details or I will botch it up!!
As for the Top Engine Cleaner, next time I do it, I am definitely trying the aerosol. I tried the liquid way and rigged up Kwick6's contraption with the siphon straw and I felt it was executed perfectly, I stalled it out with the absolute last bit of TEC! I let it sit for 2 hours and got a
paltry amount of
smoke and noticed no difference in my KR or idle or anything but it did foul my plugs so I had to change those out right away. I don't see how sucking the liquid in through the brake booster will clean out the top of the upper IC, like the throttle body area or the EGR area, it would seem like it would drizzle down directly below the brake booster port and only get those areas. But I am by no means any type of intake flowing expert! Also my results were atypical; most people said they got volumous clouds of smoke, I don't know what the explanation is why I didn't. Anyways my point with the aerosol is with that, you have control and it would seem you can blast it into any area or direction you want.
