every so often if I launch my truck it will run like normal until it shifts to 2nd then it will slip for a moment like it is neutral then it bangs into gear and goes like normal, it will also do this some times if I floor it from a stop with out building boost. but it never does this if I am already moving. any help would be greatly appreciated.

A couple things could cause it:
Seals leaking inside the servo assembly.
Apply pin ridge damaged on the 2-4 band.
Burnt 2-4 band paper surface(gets very hard and shiny and doesn't "grab" anymore.
Just take it easy on the truck for a while until you can afford to pull the trans to make everything inside right.
With only 8 posts I imagine you just got it. Don't hammer it too hard until you learn more about them. DON'T PLAY WITH THE TV CABLE UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING!!It'll finish it off quickly.
How many miles are on it?
Sy or Ty? Original tranny?
Try a fluid change, change the filter, and put in Lubegard. Take a picture of the contents of the pan when you pull it. You may be surprised by all the crud in it.
Run it this way for a while. Give the Lubegard several heat cycles to "cut" into the friction materials in the tranny and dissolve any varnishes that may have formed. It may buy you some more time. Don't worry about synthetic trans fluid right now($70+ to do your trans)and don't use and "trick shift" or "type F" fluid.
The trans will run for a long time under normal use with the 3-4 clutches down to the metal(you have a single band for 2nd and 4th and you have a single stack of clutches for 3rd and 4th).
One way or another, you'll need to redo the tranny eventually unless you just use it like a normal vehicle....who the hell does that?

I have had the truck for about a year. It has 38000 miles with the original trans and just had new fluid and a filter before I got it. the fluid level is fine I was just driving it and I got on in getting on the highway and it did it again it seemed like it was in neutral and then it banged into gear and went like normal then not more than 5 min later I launched it and it worked fine and shifted into second hard like normal.

Low mileage doesn't mean a whole lot with the transmissions on these trucks unfortunately.
First thing is no more launching. It is your truck, do what you want but your transmission obviously has something wrong with it. Why would you want to blow it apart? Take it easy on it until you find out what is wrong with it.
Leave the shift selector in OD and go out somewhere where you can get it in 4th and keep it there for a bit. Now when it makes it into 4th, give it moderate throttle(not enough for a TV downshift)just enough to accellerate decently and see if the truck feels like it falls on its face a bit or feels like you just put it in neutral. If it does you have damaged the 2-4 band apply ridge.
They sell little extenders that you can put on the end of the apply pin for the servo that will extend it. You want as close to 1/16" servo travel before band apply as possible. Working on this is a pain in the but in the truck because the exhaust is right next to the servo cover you need to get to.
If it is a Ty, it will have all the updated parts in it except for the clutches.
If it is a Sy, it should be completely updated. It will only have a rear planetary with the oil slinger(HP some call it), the rest will be regular duty stuff that will need to be upgraded to 93 specs. If you go all out, you can get it up to 97 specs(bonded pistons come standard on those units).
If you don't want to mess with all that, look here:

Either one will set you up right.
