Tranny slips

Hi, I'm experiencing some new problems with my Ty. After having my engine rebuilt, it seems like the transmission is next.
When i try to accelerate hard, it works fine in 1st gear, but when it's time to shift to second, it seems to slip between 1st and 2nd. When it slips, the engine revs up, and I have to let go of the pedal to get it into 2nd gear.

Am I looking at a tranny rebuild soon, or are there any easy solution to this?

The oil level is checked..
My Ty has about 95k miles on it, and I think the tranny is stock

adjust the tv cable. maybe even on the tight side.. but with those miles and aneew motor chances are your going to need a rebuild.

OK, I'll check the TV cable adjustment today, but it was just fine a few months ago. Does it un-adjust itself?
Earlier, the shift between 1 and 2 was brutal. Now, it's more like a mercedes shift.. nice and slow..

she's dead...I hate to say. by making the tv cable tighter you can possibly buy yourself some time. but it's goin down hill.

This morning.. when I was driving my car to work as usual, something strange happened. The tranny wouldn't shift. I reved it slowly up to about 4000 rpm, then it shifted, real brutal. This wasn't very pleasant to drive with, but I got to work. When I arrived, I tried to move the TV cable back an forth a few times, it felt like it "loosened" a bit. Took it for a spin, and the shift was like before. Is this normal for a tranny that's about to die?

I'm having the exact same problem. Still gotta take a look at the TV cable - hope this sorts it. If I'm looking at a tranny rebuild (it's stock) is there a good source for a rebuild kit?

Here in England I'd like to deliver the Ty with a kit of parts, rather than have the shop think it's a regular 700R4. Read too many posts about botched rebuilds to just leave it to them.

I had the same problem. The tranny was "done for" the servo band was torn off and the tranny needed a complete overhaul. But it CAN be the TV-Cable. But in my case it was a rebuild issue.

Had a look at the TV cable today and it was a little out of adjustment. Now that's done it shifts a whole lot smoother. Hoping it stays that way! :)

Without this forum I'd have been lost, and out of pocket. Thanks guys!

thats great news. now to make sure that it doesnt slip again I've seen ppl put a small hose clamp on the back side of the TV cable so that it cant move. this "Could" save you a tranny.

Can you move the slider alittle even though the slider was adjusted using the correct manner (adjusted according the Sy/Ty how-to video)? Will the tranny still slips even if you shift gears manually?

valve body

valve body

my problems have been with the valve body sticking, i had a full flush and evacution done and had some lube gard added and it corrected the problem.

I'm a little late on the post. But it sounds like the clutches went bad. Usually 3rd gear clutches, but I guess 2nd gear could happen too. A lot of times what happens with cars that sit for a while without being driven, is that condensation/water builds up in the tranny and basically the clutches get eaten up. That's what happened with mine anyway, and several of my friend's trannys. Hope you get it squared away, whatever it is.

What can you do about sticking valves? Replacement or cleaning?

R&R clean them up with some carb cleaner if the bores arent scuffed. also try lube guard.
