normally the shipper disconnect the shifter cable
BULLSHIT
I've been around cars, dealerships, and shipping for almost 50 years. I have NEVER seen a disconnected shift cable on general principal. Maybe repo-men and tow truck operators in the days before cradle-snatcher equipment used to disconnect the back-drive linkage from the steering column to the shifter to get it in neutral so it would roll if they didn't have a key. Maybe that's what you mean. But I think the shipper had the key for the OP's truck.
This isn't South America.
I think you're full of crap and don't know what you're talking about. Not now, not ever. You tend to come and go from here. But you never seem to know what you're talking about.
Please explain the rational behind disconnecting the shifter cable for shipping. Why would it be done, or NEED to be done? Not just a statement that this is done. Am I supposed to be impressed that "we" received a Z06? Those (the 01's) are $7,500 dollar cars now here. I've never done it, but I suspect that "removing" the shifter cable in a C5 or C6 is not a trivial task.
Anyway, I'd bet that a "disconnected shifter cable" is not the OP's problem with 'stuck' in Reverse.
Not to get on your bad side Dave the reason for the disconnected shifter cable i was told by my shipper here is because of limited space in the shipping container to get in/out of the vehicle so you cannot depress the brakes in to unlock the transmission out of park so they just push in the vehicle then strap them they also drain the fuel tank ..
the reason for the disconnected shifter cable ........... is because of limited space in the shipping container to get in/out of the vehicle so you cannot depress the brakes in to unlock the transmission out ]of park
I have heard of people cutting brake lines and making a vehicle non operable during shipping. A couple of people I know were in to Nissan GTR (r32). I remember hearing something like import fees become less when you disable something small that can be fixed real quick. ?
I don't see any other reason for doing that. Limited space doesnt make sense. Do they remove the wheels too and stack them inside the car?
