(obligatory comment about sillyness of idea)

You can put a V8 in any S series, why does it need to be a Ty? If it's the AWD you want just use a Bravada. The V8 won't make you any faster, and in many cases, especially without the AWD, it will make you slower. Its such a shame to see one of these rare trucks reduced to a V8 converted S.

Now of course if you Turbo the V8 and keep the AWD THAT would be something special.

i would agree with everyone and save the ty and do it to a blazer for god sake. If you want a really nice blazer i have a 89 s10 blazer just waiting for a huge v8 conversion has fresh paint and i will be open to offers buy/trade?

I'd do a twin turbo LS1 conversion with AWD.

And if you wanted to be super cool use a blow through carb :p

Unfortunately its been done.

The big block was a fire total loss and he brought it back from the dead.
It would have been cheaper to restore it to a Ty motor, but to each their own.

I think it totally sucks ass nuggets when someone vandalizes a SyTy.
Keep it V6 turbo AWD, thats what makes it a SyTy.

You want a v8 conversion go get a jimmy/blazer/envoy/extreme/S-10/Sonoma.

I looked at a Extreme Blazer the other day. First truck they have made in oh 10 years or so that kind of made me want to buy a new truck.

I am teh kingpin!
you would be pissing in the wind on that one.

just get a 4x4 blazer, and change the suspenion, and transfer case, and put on the body cladding.

it would be a hell of a lot easier then making a 2wd frame, awd.

Or just making a 2wd with a suspension that hooks. There are a lot of fast cars and trucks that run very nice times - without AWD.
