A stock fuel pump will barely feed the factory injectors. GET a new fuel pump, I can help you swap it. I wont be at dream cruise. Ilive in redford Just outside Livonia basically 96 and Inkster road.

Re: (Very) Frustrated Newbie

Thanks guys. I will get a new fuel pump next week. I will also search to see if anyone makes a hot wire kit for the SyTys. Yes, I have a 3 Bar Map and an adjustable fuel pressure regulator.

So, for the record my next steps are going to be:
1. New Walboro fuel pump (and possibly hot wire kit)
2. Double checking the wastegate.
3. Contacting Phil about the chip
4. Checking electrical connections to the ECM--and possibly running a new wire to it.

If non of the aforementioned work...there's always the stock setup.

Invisibill, I was in GR last week (although without the Typhoon). If I had known you were so knowledgable I would have made the trip in the truck. Thanks for your thoughts.

Warmpancakes, you do live very close to me...I'm starting to worry about my sister. I'll PM you and perhaps we can connect. Thanks.

remember even though the fuel pressure is good and steady, your stock pump cannot not put out the fuel volume needed to supply the flow for injectors. also check your fuel filter.

Thanks. I know that there's a ton I don't know about these trucks, and car stuff in general, but I try to learn as much as possible. It's kind of ironic that I have a relatively slow truck (I'm going to blame that on my crappy tranny rebuild until I can prove otherwise though) with almost no mods.

If you're ever in the area again, I'm always up for meeting SyTy people. I've been hanging out with Timbo lately, and we stalked^H^H^H^H^H^H^Htracked down Claude (from the old mailing list) too.

Re: (Very) Frustrated Newbie

Thanks.

I got the fuel pump in and the hotwire kit installed. I also changed the plugs and it runs better, but as you can see, I still have some problems. I'm hoping to hook up with a couple of the guys in the area to try to get this puppy dialed in.

I would be interested in any thoughts that others may have.

Re: (Very) Frustrated Newbie

You're throwing all sorts of DTC errors, at least in that .uni file above:

MALF 15: Cool Temp Low
MALF 22: TPS Low
MALF 33: MAP High
MALF 34: MAP Low
MALF 43: ESC Failure
MALF 45: O2 Rich
MALF 55: ADU Error

TPS voltage seems low, I didn't see much knock in the file provided, but you never went 100% TPS either. I would think your chip or ECM are the culprit, but what do I know. Let us know what you find.

Re: (Very) Frustrated Newbie

Adding an alki injection sist. wouldnt be a bad idea just to remain on the safe side with all that KR, not that i know a lot about DM tunning but when i did my necesary mods to get more than 15lbs, after installing the chip and the 3 BMS and forgotten to rehook the vacuum line that goes to the sensor i had to check back up on what i had installed or messed with, good i only drove it like a quarter mile and started feelin a funky behavior, rehooked the vac line and it was running like never before from 18 to 21 or 22lbs (dont remember), at the low timing setting. The colder the weather that night the more power it seemed to make, i took it to the track next day and a jammed IC pump made it feel like crap after the second run when i checked the IC was blistering hot and the metal line had a hole blowing steam out. I think the alki injection saved the engine from some damage. Im glad it all worked good the first time, im replacing the IC pump along with the trans (i guess it was doing some good power cause the tranny went along like a week later i did the mods). Also a clogged gas filter would feel very bad at hi boost or hi rpms. Well just some lil troubles i had when doin this mods and i had to figure out my self. Good Luck.

Re: (Very) Frustrated Newbie

Thanks guys. I picked up my alky kit yesterday from Scott at Detroit Turbo, but I am very reluctant to install it until I get to the root cause of the problem.

I just read a thread where someone else has been chasing knock in their truck for quite a while. I've been chasing the knock in this thing for almost a year without much success. I'm sure that it is something relative simple and I will look back on it (after spending major bucks and time) and laugh.

I agree that with all of the codes and all of the knock that it has to be related to the ECM somehow. Hopefully, I can connect with one of the guys on the board and we can figure something out.

Thanks for your help.
