Well....they are trying to tell me they are gonna have to total it because they're having a hard time finding the parts for it. And the parts they did find are gonna cost more than the pay off on it.
So I dont know....
Maybe Ill just gut it and give them the shell and throw the drivetrain in a new S10.

They are totalling it.....they told me the truck is worth only $12,900 or something. And Its over $9K worth of damage. Thats almost a $4k difference, but Im only getting $1400 or so back. They are considering it a "total loss" because THEY cant find the parts. They dont give a damn if I can get them...infact, they told me it would be a waste of money to buy it back from them and fix it myself because it would then have a salvage title and would be worthless in the long run.
The buy back on it is $2200.....

That is some bullsh*t right there. Id like to see the breakdown of how it totals 9k. With the resources on here, I bet you could put it all back for 2500 or less. That front cover is fine... take it off the support and either hit it with a heat gun, or let it sit in the sun for awhile, it'll go back into form. Any reputable body shop could straighten out the support.
All I see is and excuse to get another "older" vehicle off the road. I wouldnt settle and goto a different state farm agent that more understands the value of the truck and isnt just pushing papers behind a desk. Educate them and let them know that factory OEM parts can be purchased at other sources and not just GM (rockford racecraft, B&M Industries, etc).
If it was me, I wouldnt be settling. From the looks of it, you got a nice truck.... its not worth giving up and just taking it in the ass just cause someone doesnt want to do a little extra legwork in the SF office.

I agree, they prolly are just pushing it around becuase they dont want to do the work on finding the parts. They prolly didn't even look anyware but the gm dealer witch prolly dont even have the parts.. you have Many places that sell those parts. shoot go with a coulinduction hood its only like 400 or something, the fenders, i got both my fenders at Jc whitney for, i believe it was 218.. and the grill is like 60.. i dont understand how they came up with 9k in damages.. There NUTS..

I asked them that too, they told me when they make a claim on a vehicle they have to go off the last known price of the parts. And like I mentioned earlier....they dont care if I can find the parts.
And another thing that got to me, they keep calling it a Jimmy. And would get pissed when I would correct them.

Seriously, find another SF agent to deal with about the situation and change the State Farm office you are dealing with. You dont have to use the one listed on your insurance card....any office should be able to take care of you. If they arent willing to help you out and just basically telling you to F off, you dont need to waste your time.
Not all SF agents are like that....
