I need to plumb water lines to the center section of a ball bearing turbo. What are you guys using for a pressurized feed source? Does the block drain hole work since there should be a good amount of cool pressured coolant? Any pics? thanx

I have a water cooled turbo (not ball bearing, a te-45a). My turbo water lines are t'ed off the lines to and from the heater core. I didn't do it, it was like that when I got it.

right where the the factory had it....@ the front of the intake. it has recirculated thru the radiator and is entering the intake @ it's coolest temp. the water in the bottom of the block would be hotter. :2cents:

Actually I think its the other way. Unless the 4.3 ( which to the best of my knowledge is the same as a small block chevy) is reversed cooled, it flows into the block and out of the intake manifold. This is why the heater core gets its coolant from the top of the manifold, its at its hottest. I never had a stock turbo on my truck but if the lines were ran that way does anyone know how to get cooled water before it goes to the motor to the turbo? I was told tapping the side of the water pump was one way and the block drain plug hole was another. Anyone ever tried either of those?

If you have an aftermarket water pump take it right off the pump.

the edelbrocks have a port there and come with a plug.Use the plug onthe upper intake and water source right off the pump.

I have the stock water pump. I noticed there is a port on the top that is plugged. I was told that is a return though??

The pump is being fed directly from the lower rad hose, everything on the front side of the pump is pressurized.

Pull that plug and you will find a nice supply of freshly cooled water.

I have seen others plumb theirs this way and had I known before I did my new WP mine would be the same way.
Next time it comes apart i am moving my water source over to the pump.

I am just going to use the factory line intake/block retun openings with Turbotime braided hoses. I don't think it will make much of a difference in life of the BB turbo as long as its water cooled.
