You can buy a modern usb/bluetooth adapter from 1320 Electronics or Red Devil

And use an android tablet to run ALDLdroid or ALDL Scan, which is free. ALDLDroid is $18 now but I wouldn't hesitate to buy it if I needed it. It is compatible with Ostrich and allows you to edit XDF files on the fly. The youtube videos are pretty cool

From what I understand I won't be able to use my current latop since it's running Windows 10, but I have a computer guy that can modify my old laptop running Windows 8 and convert it to 7 or something.
It's like mission impossible getting a hold of certain syty vendors these days. Love to support the dying breed but return a message or a phone call. Good lord.

You should be able to run Datamaster in Windows 10 by changing some compatibility settings. If it refuses to work, you can emulate an older version of windows, usually XP to make them run.

IMO, why not spend the money to get what these trucks need to keep them running? If you can't log to see what going on, it'll never run right. I understand it may cost some $ now, but it'll be something you'll buy once and have for as long as you have a SyTy. All the money spent on parts, can do nothing for a truck that blew up cause it wasn't tuned well. Even if you go with a Turbo Tweak chip, you still need data logging capabilities. I see a new motor in your avatar, want it to last? Get some logging equipment.
IMO, why not spend the money to get what these trucks need to keep them running? If you can't log to see what going on, it'll never run right. I don't quite follow you here...my truck runs fine. It has a good tune currently. I'm intending on modifying it relatively soon and I know my tuner won't be available to babysit so I'm simply preparing. Does that make sense? And who said anything about turbotweak? lol

Have you looked into Tunerpro RT and an Ostrich? It allows you to make instant adjustments or undo something immediately if you **** something up :lol:

Where? That's the problem. TTS site is down. All these Datamaster searches I've been doing with links attached are from like 2007 to 2012.
I keep hearing people saying "my laptop broke" or "the old laptop battery doesn't last so I need another activation code". I don't want to run into that. I just want to give someone my money for a disc. LOL and it's like impossible.

My old laptop with Datamaster on it took a shit a few years back. I called TTS Power Systems, and they gave me a new activation code. No charge. Tuner Pro is free and I have used it both to log and tune with the Ostrich, but I just find DataMaster simpler and easier to understand. Plus, it is easier to get others to look at your log file, as a lot of guys have DataMaster.

What makes it different? Cause I have heard others endorse it regularly. You'd think a cable is a cable but I've always been a believer in the old "you get what you pay for" saying so I'm definitely not opposed.

Okay last question then I'm done here. If you purchase the Datamaster software (actual disc) versus downloading it...does the disc have to run in order to log, or do you just need it for the install?
Only reason I ask is because I'd be using an external to run the disc.

I would assume that you only need the disk for install, not for running. I would assume the disc would have an activation code with it. I'm not sure if the activation code can be used more than once.

A disk is not required to use datamaster. Back in the day I downloaded the trial on tts's website, I then purchased the software through an old syty vendor that is no longer in business. He sent me an activation code, I typed that into my trial version and boom I had full on datamaster. My assumption on the disk is that it was just the normal trial software that you added the activation code to.
I have no idea about the moates cable but I can say not all cables are equal. I had purchased a cable and software from a group purchase here a long time ago, It was turbo something, anyway the cable made the truck run in aldl mode. I contacted the vendor and had to disassemble the end of the cable and cut a wire for it to work on my sy.
With all that being said if you plan to keep this truck for a long time invest in something good. I spent a lot of money between cables, laptop, software, chip burner, emulator etc and I hired one of the best syty tuners to help tune my sy. The truck was undrivable and I was extremely frustrated spending all this money. I bit the bullet and have the holley dominator ecu and couldn't be happier. I used a custom cal for a turbo 30psi 350 that came with the holley, modified the settings for my setup and untuned the truck drives almost as good as it did stock. I might add that now my dominator controls the cooling fan with pwm so no huge amp spike when the fan kicks in, the fuel pump is controlled via pwm so it won't overheat and lastly I don't have to deal with those pesky distributor cap issues as it has 6 ls truck coils lighting the fire.
I know its a lot of money and hard to swallow but its a solid investment that can be removed and moved to a different vehicle if you choose. If you are interested at all email me and i can talk more about it, my only regret is waiting so long as my truck sat undrivable for far too many years!

Personally I'd use this:

Slightly steeper learning curve but TunerPro is WAY more customizable and gives you a better view of the data when you are looking back at a log.

Well I'm not looking to tune the truck personally. Yet anyhow. As I stated earlier I'm just looking to log and send files. From the countless searches I've done regarding DM/TP the common recurring responses seem to be that DM is a lot more basic/user friendly and being that a majority of syty guys are familiar with DM or run it as well...it's more convenient to get others to look at the files and give input/feedback.
This isn't a post ranting about the driveability of my truck or scratching my head trying to figure out an issue where I need this overnight. I've procrastinated long enough not to have something to to log and send files if I make some changes or get a different tune down the road. The tune that's in the truck has been rock solid since I had it done years ago. However, I'm not naivete, my tuner isn't always going to be readily available to babysit me at the drop of a hat if/when something goes wrong. So why not have something fairly universal in the SyTy community where I can atleast get feedback? Seems pretty logical to me. I appreciate all the responses though.
