Who does this and why?........................

Just curious. I 've heard that some SyTy people take off the fenderwells on their cars. Is this so it runs cooler or maybe it makes it easier to work on? It sounds like a good idea to me but what do I know. :dunno: :2cents:

It's better to be dead and cool than alive and uncool.

I took out the fenderwells in my sy for 2 reasons.

- It makes it 100x easier to work on the truck (plugs, wires, cap/rotor, i dont even have to jack up the truck anymore, i just go from the top with ease)

- cooler engine bay temps. I streetrace, so when the truck is sitting in a parking lot, i want it cooling off as quick as possible.

Do note, I dont recommend doing it if your truck is a daily. It does get dirty very quickly... and you can forget driving in rain. If your not a clean engine guy and hate polishing, its not for you. Also, I dont have the ABS unit, the stock radiator overflow, and all the other misc items bolted to the fenders. The big worry is the ABS unit... it does rest on the fenderwell.

However, it does make your truck alot louder in the sense of engine noise and turbo spool. Its not that its physically louder, its just the fenderwells really do block alot of engine noise that is muffled out.

X2, kinda amazing how much more room you'll have.

On one of my former trucks, they were trimmed so it made it easier to work on, mine as well just had the removed.

The bat will do ok. I actually think it might be the other way around, the bat box supports the fenderwell.:2cents:
