Here's a cladding paint idea I found on facebook. He said he's doing it for a guy in Dakota....looks awesome!

Man that looks good but I don't think it would fit my Ty well. I plan on having no decals like I did before.

Re: Wrecksurrection

So it looks like progress is back on the road. I had to get some new help due to time restraints and the fact that this thing needs to get done. I am collecting 4l80e parts now and want to be able to do something with them. As of right now, we are thinking the truck could be complete (painted anyway) in about a month or less. Here are some progress pics I took today.

If you look at the piece of cladding on the right, you can see some gray patches. My buddy Chris did amazing job at fixing this. The well hit that and knocked a chunk out and it been broken almost as long as I have owned the truck. He fixed it with this plastic repair stuff. It looks perfect. He even fixed the hump in my front bumper from when I got in my road rage fight a few years back.

Re: Wrecksurrection

You should do your decals similar to the ones on this Sy. I think they would go perfect on your truck.

Re: Wrecksurrection

We needs us some updates!?!?!?!?!?!??!?

Tell you what, I am doing MAJOR work on this thing this week. I was supposed to go out and help my guys but I decided to dedicate this week to my Ty. I pulled the motor back out to swap cams. Found some interesting black goo in the bottom of the oil pan. I took a bunch of things apart to check everything out and found no issues. So today I got the motor back together. Tomorrow, the windows go back in the truck. The body of the Ty is now painted. My friend is coming over this weekend to color sand and buff. He did around all the windows last night and I have to say this thing is going to look SICK!

Speaking of sick, my plans for the week didn't go as well as I planned since I have been pretty sick but I am only a little off track. Tomorrow morning, I am going to pull the hood, fenders and core support, pound the body seem in to make room for the 80e, sand the fire wall and paint the wall and core support. I also plan on making my coild removable with out taking the damn cowl off. Then, with any luck, I will have the motor back in the Ty by Saturday afternoon.

I have ordered everything I need for the 80e swap. Converter will be here next week along with all the swap hardware. So I am hoping to spend next next Saturday and Sunday installing the trans. I also have all new gauges on the way, about a week out on those too. Once all that is in, all I will have to do is wire up the 80e with the stock ECM and harness I got and I think it will be done. I have been taking some pics and will take more tomorrow. I will try to post up.

Re: Wrecksurrection

Here is the truck day before paint. Not this past Friday but the one before.

The truck came home Monday. I tried to work on it all week but I was pretty sick and had a hard time getting out there. I had pulled the motor and up to this morning the front clip was off and bare. I repainted the fire wall and started reinstalling the wiring harness. Motor is in and I started putting everything back together

As some may remember, I put my coil in the cowl. I never liked that I couldn't really access it easily. I cut the piece out and made a ridge on the metal and made a bolt in piece

Installed core support

Installed fenders

Installed new weather stripping

Check it out, no seams

I have a feeling the seams will eventually crack. We'll see.

So next step, I need some bolts to finish the engine bay which I will get tomorrow. After tomorrow night, engine and bay should be ready to roll. I ordered all my 80e stuff last week and should have it all by Friday and am hoping to have it all dumbied in place by Saturday or Sunday then I will start on the harness. I also have all new matching gauges on the way from Speed Hut and those will go in after trans work is under way.

For now as far as paint goes, my buddy is coming by this week to color sand and buff. He did around the windows so I could get new glass put it in and when he started sanding the paint I almost died when I saw it getting roughed up but I have to admit, it is going to look bad ass when it is done.

Re: Wrecksurrection

I'll say what really sucks. When I was pushing the truck out to install the motor, I knocked by back glass over and it broke. I went straight to the JY and got a decent replacement. It's actually in really good shape.

I also decided when I pulled the motor to swap manifolds since my other one leaked under boost because I took too much material off the injector bosses. So "while I was in there" I went ahead and put in a hopefully better cam that I got from John Gerber in place of the Kenne Bell cam.

Next Saturday, my painters 51 Chevy will be towed over so I can start doing my trade with him. Then he starts the cladding. With cladding, the mirrors, grille, rear glass hinges, escutcheons will be painted. I am getting pretty excited and its finally starting to come together.

Re: Wrecksurrection

I filled my seams in 3+ years ago and have no signs of cracking at all. If it was done right and not just filled with body filler it should be fine.

Re: Wrecksurrection

Dropped cladding off this morning to be worked and painted. The friend of mine doing this wants me to get his 51 Chevy running right. I am going to re-wire the entire engine bay, pull the motor and clean the piss out of it (its a 305) I will be doing headers and exhaust with Flowmaster 40's dumping in front of the rear tires, Air gap manifold, 750 carb and a new gas tank. He asked me if I could have it done by his birthday which is June 5. I told him sure, if you can get mine done by my birthday which is May 12th. I guess he's on it. Hope I can turn his around in that short of time being that I probably wont even start the thing until the 15th.

750 on a 305? Sounds a little on the big side.
