Blown head gasket = Vortecs

Well I finally blew a head gasket...Well more like lifted the head due to bold stretch.
Motor has been together with l35s' for three years, three transmission, four transfer cases, And 10k miles.
You can hardly tell on the gasket where it was, But it was seeping into the water jacket from #1 cylinder.
So now I get to do
Vortecs' with a complete overhaul
New AFPR
Intake ported and welded for vortec
I found a nice milkshake under the intake.Thank god I don't run antifreeze, It would have destroyed the bearing for sure. The oil pan has a nice thick layer of goop in it also.

WITH THE VORTECS' I SHOULD BE ABLE TO DO THE SAME HP & ET ON LESS PSI
GOT TO FIND ITS SWEAT SPOT AGIAN LOL

Got the heads and manifolds on.........the freakin things were all out of wack.
intake bolts wouldn't line up ( I was aware of that before ) guess I'll drill the out bigger tomarrow?

What intake gaskets are you running? I just did this, these will help.

Did they mill them after they were welded up? They have to be milled because of the heat from the welding in some cases so they will sit flat when bolted up.

Yep 1203 are the thing to use.Just slap some monkey glue on the heads and stick the gaskets to them.

Good luck man, I have been fighting a cooling leak problem in my vortec heads for about a month, Mike from RPM told me to silicone the Shit out of all bolts near the water jackets.

YEP I knew that getting into this.The only thing I'm worried about is the ob longed intake holes I had to make to get the bolt holes to line up.

Intake sealed up beautifully ( for now ) LOL
Just barely had to grind a little bit of material off the intake to make the bolt and holes line up!

Sweet should start it tomorrow

I did the samething with the holes. Sounds like that is the name of the game with vortecs. I started my truck late night. So far, so good.

Got everything back together and running, had a miss.....went to restart it and it was hydrolocked!
#2 has water in it WTF!

You should hook him up on a cheap shortblock rebuild .:thumbsup:
