The pics say a 1000 words. Glad everybody is ok. Good luck with whatever salvage/restoration/etc route you decide on.

VERY sorry to hear :(. A loss to a fire or crash are the worst. Happy that no one was injured. I know that you have worked diligently on your truck ever since you got it. The fact that many on here have followed you along the way only makes it more heartfelt... Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

I am in no way trying to be a douche when I say this, but I am shocked that you didn't buy it back from the insurance company. I have to agree with Mike, the truck really looks completely salvageable. Honestly if I had the garage space and spare cash I would already have bid on this, regardless of the salvage title. I'm not chiding you by any means, and I hope it doesn't come off that way. Had it been my truck though, Project Phoenix here would already be in the garage. The best part about all of this is that no one in you family was injured and the only hurt part of you is your pride.

If it were my truck, I don't think I would have the time to do that amount of work. I'm lucky to drive mine every once and awhile. I couldn't imagine having the time to basically rebuild an entire truck...

That, plus...I would find it very painful to have a once super-nice truck now sitting there charred. I'd opt to get a fresh start and move on to something else. :2cents:

+1

Personally, I don't have the time and wouldn't have the desire to have it rebuilt, nor the garage space.

Take the insurance money, buy a new one and let that one get sold for someone who does have the desire to rebuild it or part it out.

I just hope the relationship that you (OP) have had with this truck doesn't deter you from buying another one.

Re: #0352 is dead........

I understand that this truck lives in DE, but I just went through buying a wrecked vehicle in PA. My insurance company had to have an auction to determine value before I was able to buy it. Lucky for me the auction value of the POS I was buying was $450. This may or may not be the case here, but you never know. I know there is a member here that is interested in buying this truck. Do you have to be a dealer to participate in this auction?

i dont like to see these trucks parted out but in the above picture it appears the roof above the tailgate glass is pretty well gone , id venture to say the rockers and quarters behind the cladding is rotted bad also along with the bottoms of the doors. the big dollar front cladding is all toast along with the exspensive dash pieces (cluster and surround) and it has the ugly year seats in it. with all that being bad maybe its better to let it go and find a cleaner one rather than try to fix this one.

I kind of agree with that statement. I too noticed the rust aboove the rear glass. My (now) donor truck has the same rust there and the quarters, doors, fenders, and floors have a lot of rot. That's why I opted to buy a rust free roller and turn my truck into the donor. I too hate to see them parted by why fix them when they're too far gone. :dunno:

I met Tom at the wrenchfest and I know what he's gone through with this truck. Maybe its a blessing in disguise and its time to cut the losses. I have personally wished mine would burn to the ground at times... Easy but painful way out.

Re: #0352 is dead........

Yes this Ty will need some work but what Ty dose not? We (My son and I) plan on making this truck a driver again and am in the process of purchasing this Ty from Tom as we type on here. The add on the internet for this Ty is like a bill in the mail after you have paid it. We will be looking for parts to put it back together soon.
