Addco Sway Bars

For those of you with Addco sway bars, are you using the 8" end links that the factory suggests? These seem excessively long and are impossible to find without special ordering them. I've been talking to Addco so for those of you interested in end links read on.

According to Addco, a factory ride height truck supposedly uses an end link kit number 017 with a functional height of 8". A truck like mine with a 1" drop needs a functional length of 7". Unfortunately the next shorter kit Addco makes is kit number 007 with a functional height of 6 1/4". This would work fine for a 2" drop truck but to get exactly the right fuctional height on a 1" drop truck you need to get an 8" kit and cut the spacer tubes down an inch. That's what the Addco tech support guy recommends. Any feedback? Perhaps the auto-x guys could tell us how critical the end link issue really is to your sway bar's performance.

You will find Pep-boys carries a myraid of ADDCO end link lengths. 8 inch is way long, and will tilt the endlinks something awefull. Do yourself a favor, mount the bar, then level it, then measure the required end link length, go to Pep-Boys and buy the right length.

I should have mentioned this. Pep Boys does carry a variety of lengths but the 8" and 6 1/4" lengths are not among them- hence the special order. Someone needs to explain to Addco that the end link kits they list are too long. I don't mind calling them back and trying to correct this if I have the correct information. If anyone does know the proper length of end links for the different ride heights of Sy's and Ty's please let me know. I'll see what I can do to keep other owners from ending up with the wrong kits....
