Battery relocation

vinnieTy

TY # 1889
I installed a kinetik battery i think it was the 800 series in my typhoon about three years ago so i could install a nice clean intake. The issue is that the truck really takes a hard time to turn over. At first it seems that the battery is weak but then boom it starts. It has been like this since day one the battery isn't bad its just doesnt have enough amperage power to start it normal and now im worrying that it wasn't a great idea.

What are others using for a battery that is smaller in size and saves space but at the same time gives enough amperage to start truck with no problems? I would love to move the battery in the fender but as we all now Kenne bell is no longer around and the people that have posted ones for sale i have missed.

If you have one for sale please let me know!!!

Thanks

Re: Battery relocation

Vinnie, I use the pc680. So do a lot of others.Low compression engines do not need much to turn them over...Jim

Re: Battery relocation

Combine this bat. with a hight torque starter and shave some weight too. This is the 454 upgrade talked about around here. Bolts right up.

The starter on it's own is a worthwhile upgrade, much faster starting, and much much lighter to work with if you ever have to drop it.

Re: Battery relocation

Vinny, RENZ was working an ATR reproduction battery relocate kit. Might want to check with him to see if he's made any progress if you want to go that route.

Re: Battery relocation

i upgraded to the 454 starter too, heat wrapped it real good since i have headers.
Did the purple wire fix as well when i was there, and heat wrapped it as well.
I have an old atr battery tray, but no hardware. Battery relocated to hatch with optima red top.
Need to install a holddown kit and disconnect switch so i can run on the track.
My ty starts good all the time.

Re: Battery relocation

It may sound dumb but on a Sonoma I had I did a battery relocation to the bed and upgraded to 2 ga wire and the gear reduction starter. It turned over with no problems. I don't know if this will help any. I am interested in this one though because my intake rubs the battery so now the hood doesn't close properly.
