Re: breaking up/stputtering

what kinda fuel pressure are you at. have you datalogged it to see where your o2 is....got a wideband? you can foul plugs real quick if you're that rich. I fouled a set in a few miles that way.

Re: breaking up/stputtering

I am working on buying the data logger. Didn't plan on doing all this work but a broken rod forced me to do so. I am running 45psi at idle(no vacuum), i turned it down to 42psi and got real bad detonation during WOT. At 47psi just showed to be more rich on the A/F gauge... Wideband and data logger are in the future buying plans. It hesitates/stumbles/breaks up from 1500-1500 during mild acceleration or driving anywhere in that range. If it sits and idles for a while it will stumble and throw on a quick check engine light.

Re: breaking up/stputtering

I am begining to hate my Typhoon... I have had nothing but trouble since I built the new engine. It's been out of the truck 3 times in three months already! if I ever get it right I might start to like it again....

Re: breaking up/stputtering

I was just thinking.... I am using the new GM part # 3bar not the discontinued 3bar # from GM. Are they interchangable?? Maybe I am chipped for the old one?? When I go WOT the truck reads lean on the A/F gauge and pops really bad.... almost as if it's not detecting boost or WOT. I have a new TPS on order and Todd from Ultimate Chips is sending me another chip.... any other suggestions??

I just noticed you said if it sits and idles it will stumble and throw on the check engine light. What code is stored when it does this??

Re: breaking up/stputtering

Is this a 50# Ultimate? My truck ran like garbage with this chip...I tried three different ones. Went to the Phil Long 50# chip and now my truck runs awesome. I would put the stock chip, injectors, and 2 BAR MAP back in just to see if that helps. If so, you found your problem. Takes about 30 minutes to do this.

Re: breaking up/stputtering

ended up being a bad ECU in combination with a bad EPROM. I changed them both and now the truck runs much better. I have no idea why the ECU went bad but I changed it and it ran much better but it would cut out occasionally. I changed the EPROM and now it now longer cuts out and it doesn't break up anymore.

Re: breaking up/stputtering

don't know why all these responses and nobody has pointed towards ignition. sounds like igniton to me. these trucks are so touchy when it comes to ignition its not even funny.

i had an identical problem the first year i owned my truck. truck would stumble and there would be tach flutter under partial acceleration. WOT it ran good but not 100%. coughed out black clouds of smoke too. replaced plug wires and plugs religiously. cap, rotor, tps you name it. still nothing.

finally i was just pissed. tried to go over the checklikst of things i recently changed. so i changed the coil and it was like "hello!" truck ran flawless afterwards. looked like it was arching out on something. turns out i thought changed the coil recently but i didnt. moral of the story... leave no rocks unturned.

Thanks for the advice, that was the source of another problem on my truck, but it is all new, and was running great with the stock inj/ Pitbull chip, now with the ultimate it is in the crapper all of a sudden, super rich, idk.

Re: breaking up/stputtering

everyone pointed me in the dirctetion of ignition as well and i spent hundreds replacing everything and it did nothing. I bought an ECU from a member on the forums who was selling one, and I got the EPROM from todd at SyTy.com. $100's later problem Solved!

it probably could be a bad ground, ecm, etc...

well then i would try a new ecm and/or make sure your ultimate is seated properly, sounds to me like the ecm has a glitch

Re: breaking up/stputtering

Thanks quickstorm, that is not that much in the grand scheme of things, and I am sure that they should be replaced anyways. I will talk to Todd as soon as he E-mail's me back. Thanks, I will let you know what happens. Damn truck.

Re: breaking up/stputtering

There *was* someone on Ebay selling our ecm for $60 "buy it now" last month, they listed the quantity as 50 or so. They may still be for sale. There was no eprom included though.
