i read something about egr delete. what will happend when i do this?

You won't get exhaust gas recirculating into the intake at cruise. It allows the exhaust gas in to burn all the remaining compounds and prevent release of nitrogen dioxide and other poisons.
People take it off because the exhaust gasses are hot and heat up the intake which means you are more likely to get knock.
If you delete it, you will get an error code unless you change the chip/code in your truck. Make sure to block off the lines.

EGR is part of the smog equipment so it helps to lower your levels and possibly help with MPG since it's only active during cruise situations but from a performance stand point in these trucks tends to heat soak the hell out of the intake causing hotter intake temps so it's a popular modification if you don't have to pass smog or have a hook up for it in your area.

i just passed emissions without EGR. I got a nice little carbon fiber plate in between the valve and intake. Works just as a bigger plate would and looks completely stock. Got a TurboTweak chip so the EGR delete is already flashed into it. (no check engine light) If you want cooler intake temps and dont have a visual emissions check (or you can do it like i did it), do it...

It will cause more global warming, which will in turn result in more ice melting on the polar ice cap. This with cause a polar bear to loose its home and its cubs to drown. So after you do it, if a mean looking polar bear comes knocking on your door don't answer it.

Has anyone ever documented how much if any deleting the EGR affects mileage?
Also a another quick Q without a search or without meaning to hijack the thread, anyone know if the Ultimate Street chips have edr delete enabled in the programming?

egr is disabled with the ultimates in any normal setting and they are enabled with the valet mode (for emissions testing)

Thanks for answering that, when I think back, I remember now, it was a quick question whilst I was on my lunch at work. What I should have asked was does having the EGR removed/blanked off trigger a fault code with the Ultimate? Anyone know? Again, TIA.

The ultimate's disable the egr so you wouldn't get the check engine light that you would get with a stock chip and your egr disabled. Cheapest and simplest route would be to contact Eric at turbotime a vendor here and pickup one of his custom chips. Allot of us are using them with great results and he works with you if you have an issue or any questions until your happy. They aren't much money neither

I've been stock piling parts for a good while and have a new turbo, AFPR, Meth Inj, cold air Intake, new stock Exh manifolds to replace the cracked Pass one, +++ You probably know what I mean, too many parts too little time! and wasn't going to 'tune' until I had bottomed everything so to speak. I also have a 2 Bar Pitbull as well as the 3 Bar Ultimate I wanted to try. Both are 'off the shelf' and as you say Erics chips are reasonably priced and somewhat customised to each build. AND he is 'still' supporting our little community, which should also be recognised.

So , if it is tuned out of your chip ... do you actually have to take the parts off of your engine to see the benefits, or will it stay closed if you leave everything connected ... so it looks stock to pass the visual inspection? ---

Yeah, Eric's chip also allows you to make changes to timing, fueling, boost etc on your own as well so like I said for the price you can't go wrong plus he's always willing to help/work with you which in the aftermarket game is a huge plus.
You can leave the egr solenoid and all that jazz still installed but you should plug the port in the inside of the intake manifold so it doesn't heat up. Many people do that and leave the egr intact for visual inspection or just to help look stock. I removed it for weight purposes (not that it's heavy) and wanted to remove anything im not using or need to help with room and clutter.

So you can put the blockoff under your egr solenoid, sweet!!! Is the hardware long enough still?

No, it doesn't go under the egr valve. The blockoff plate replaces the valve on the intake.
If you disable the egr in your tune and want to leave the valve to pass visual inspection pull your upper intake off and plug the egr whole so you don't get all the heat soak.
