As far as value: The ultimate story there has to be the Shelby Cobra's, right?
10 years after they were built (say, 1973-6) you could buy one at about half life (say 50k miles), in need of a lot of refreshing, for about half the original sales price.
10 years later, the same car (if restored or at least with maintenence enough to offset any miles beyond that first 50k) was worth over 100k.
10 years later (if restored or in good original condition)... over $500k! (a few sold at over a million bucks, but those were near-zero mile examples)
10 year later, price is back down to a quarter-mil.
So, if we use the Cobra model of value, a half-used up Ty (at 100k miles) 10 year old is now at near the bottom of the value curve, at around half original sticker. Obviously, a well-modded or extremely low mile unit will be worth more.
So, be patient, grasshopper. Watch the miles. Keep up with the maintenence. Try to care for it beyond the miles you are putting on, so it moves slowly back towards original condition. Don't let the the wife or SO talk you into selling it. Wait 10 or 20 years, like the smart Cobra owners did. Don't be like the fool who sold his 10 year old Cobra in 1973 for $4000.
